Leos on July 28 rode Handsome Jack Flash to win the $409,434 Zia Futurity (RG1) and last year scored in the Southwest Juvenile Championship (G1) on Secret Courage.

Clocking :21.209, Handsome Jack Flash earned $1,320 for finishing second by half a length to Hes Relentless in the eighth trial. Handsome Jack Flash came into the trials as the undefeated winner of three races, including his previous start, the $409,434 Zia Futurity (RG1) on July 28.

Handsome Jack Flash is the first stakes winner by champion and freshman sire First Moonflash ($969,828), a two-time winner of The Championship At Sunland Park (G1) who also competed in champion Noconi’s 2008 All American Derby (G1). The champion aged stallion in 2009, the 8-year-old son of champion First To Flash set four world records and one other track record. First Moonflash has sired 16 winners and the earners of more than $444,000 from 48 starters.

Handsome Jack Flash is the first winner from two starters out of the Mr Jess Perry mare Shez Jess Nice, who retired a maiden after two races in 2005. Shez Jess Nice is out of the maiden First Down Dash mare A Lady Shes Not, whose dam, the stakes-placed dam Five Oclock Rush ($40,186) is by the Thoroughbred Such A Rush and is a full sister to graded-stakes winner Rush Fora First Down ($149,094).
