Paul Jones is the all-time leading trainer in American Quarter Horse racing. Jones has won the Blane Schvaneveldt Champion Trainer award 12 consecutive times – every year since 2002 – and now is tied with the award’s namesake who won it consecutively from 1985 through 1996. Jones has won the All American Futurity (G1) three times, with Teller Cartel in 2005, No Secrets Here in 2006 and Runnning Brook Gal in 2009. He won the All American Derby (G1) twice, the Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity (G1) twice, and the Champion Of Champions (G1) six times.

Racing in the fourth of 26 trials, Big Daddy Cartel posted a 1 1/2 length win, a :21.343 time, and held on to earn the eighth-fastest qualifying time.

Winning his first two starts, both Ruidoso trial races, Big Daddy Cartel finished fourth in the Rainbow Futurity (G1).

With progeny earnings of $1,557,600 to date this year, Corona Cartel currently is the sixth-ranked sire of money earners in 2011. He sired four of the All American Futurity qualifiers.

Big Daddy Cartel is one of seven winners from nine starters out of a graded stakes-winning Miss Racy Eyes. The earner of $133,195, she is a half sister to Runaway Vike, the dam of Volcom, sire of All American Futurity qualifier Lethal Volt. Big Daddy Cartel is a half brother to the stakes-winning Streakin La Jolla gelding Racy La Jolla (by Streakin La Jolla, $13,031) and stakes-placed runner Stepenos (by Favorite Trick (TB), $64,108).
