ST GEORGE, UT–MARCH 17, 2024–Funeral services are set Wednesday (March 20) for Kelly H. Spackman, 73, who passed away March 11, 2024, peacefully at his home in St. George, Utah, surrounded by his family.

Services are set for noon (MDT) at Webb Funeral Home, 1005 South 800 East, Preston, Idaho. Viewings will be held Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. and Wednesday from 10-11:30 a.m. both at Webb Funeral Home.

A celebration of life and dinner will be held Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. at Mt. Naomi Farms & Vineyards, 4460 N. 400 E., Hyde Park, Utah, for all that can attend. Interment will be in the Lewiston, Utah Cemetery.

Kelly was born January 7, 1951, in Logan, Utah, to Ether Gale Spackman and Rosalie Hyer Spackman of Lewiston, Utah. Sally, his oldest sister, was delighted for the arrival of her baby brother. They were later joined by their siblings, Blaine, Shannon, Coy and Mooch.

Kelly grew up in Lewiston where he attended schools and met the love of his life, Marilee Wiser. Kelly and Marilee were married September 27, 1967, and made their home in Lewiston. They were blessed with two children, Kelly Clare Spackman and Shelly Spackman.

At 18 years old, Kelly's father passed away in a tragic accident. Kelly was forced to assume responsibilities of his father's service station and looking after his mother and siblings- which he felt was a great joy! Kelly and Marilee began to build his businesses in the fuel industry with someone very special to him: Sterling Jardine.

This led to him being a very successful businessman. Kelly met one of his dearest friends, Lin Melton, where his love for racehorses blossomed. He shared this love with his son, K.C.

According to Equibase, Spackman Racing has won 34 races and earned $574,960. Their top runners included Mildred N. Vessels Memorial Handicap(G1) winner Time For Jess, a home bred daughter of leading sire Apollitical Jess. In addition Spackman Racing campaigned many horses with partners.

Kelly had a great passion to serve others and was always giving and serving his community. This lesson and gift were taught to his daughter, Shelly, where she and Kelly were often blazing trails in service for the community! No matter where Kelly was, he had the gift of making and keeping friends. The people he met were always welcomed into his home with food, a kiss and a smile!

Kelly was overjoyed with the blessings of his six grandchildren: Collin, BJ, Taylor, Chaz, Bo and Morgan. A special gift was his great-grandchildren: Charlee, Rawlings, Jack and Riggins. He would start his day by calling his children and grandkids...Never too busy for them.

Kelly is survived by his wife, Marilee Spackman; his son, Kelly Clare (KC) Spackman, Shelly Spackman (Alberto Gallardo); Siblings, Sally Baer (Chandler), Shannon Deets (Tony); Coy Mickelsen (Wendell); Bart (Mooch) Spackman; grandchildren, Collin Sorenson (Erica); Ally de Vries, Taylor Larsen (Rayslyn); Chaz Spackman (Claira); Bo Spackman (Kelsey); Morgan Bybee (Rayden); great-grandchildren, Charlee Spackman, Rawlings Larsen, Jack Sorenson and Riggins Larsen. A special gift given to him recently was the news of Bo's baby on the way. He is preceded in death by his oldest grandchild, B.J. Larsen, his parents, Gale & Rosalie Spackman, his in-laws, Lawrence & Billie Lou Wiser, and his brothers, Blaine Spackman and Clinton Spackman. The family would like to thank Dixie Hospice for their outpouring love and care to Kelly in his last days.
