Owner, Breeder Trainer Jorge Haddad Has Big Weekend at Sam Houston

HOUSTON, TX—MARCH 27, 2016—Seguin, Texas horsemen Jorge Haddad had a big weekend at Sam Houston Race Park while winning four races as owner, trainer and breeder. He also had two other winners at the Houston racetrack on Saturday that were bred by him.

Political Dynasty, a 2-year-old filly of leading sire Apollitical Jess, started things off for Haddad when she broke her maiden in Race 2 on Friday's race card at Sam Houston. The filly, out of Perfection by First Down Dash, broke sharp to win the 250-yard maiden race by a neck. Francisco Calderon rode Political Dynasty to a :13.695 clocking over the 250 yards.

Jorge Haddad's four bred-owned and trained winners over the weekend at Sam Houston Race Park included Political Dynasty, Giovani, Blue Man Group and Mazzimo.

Two races later Haddad got his second two-year-old winner on the night when Giovani used a strong drive under jockey Francisco Calderon to break his maiden in his first career start. The Tres Seis colt out of Haddad's foundation mare Las Alamitos, by First Down Dash, completed the 250 yards in :12.192 seconds.

Haddad saddled his third two-year-old winner of the night in Race 6 when Blue Man Group rallied to a head victory under jockey Francisco Calderon. The Texas homebred Tac It Like a Man gelding is out of Jess A Blue Girl, by Mr Jess Perry. He recorded a :13.635 time for the 250 yards.

Saturday night Haddad's 3-year-old Mazzimo, by his leading second crop sire The Louisiana Cartel, won the first trial for the Sam Houston Maiden Classic. Also ridden by Calderon, the lightly raced gelding completed the 350 yards in :17.919 seconds to get the 17th fastest time from 106 head that competed in 11 trial races. Mazzimo is also out of the aforementioned First Down Dash mare Las Alamitos.

Haddad also bred two other winners on Saturday's race card including Dakota Slew who posted the ninth fastest qualifying time for the $99,300 Sam Houston Maiden Classic. Larry Sherwood owns the son of The Louisiana Cartel out of Streakin Angelita, by Streakin La Jolla. Arnold Munoz, Sr. trains with David Alvarez riding.

Haddad's final winner of the night came in trial 8 when Louisiana Boi broke his maiden under jockey Luciano Duenez. Jose Jimenez owns he gelding by The Louisiana Cartel out of Newarcos Bambina, by Newarco.
