VINTON, LA–JUNE 10, 2025–Trials for the Grade 2 Firecracker Futurity will be contested Friday evening at Delta Downs, with a lineup of promising juveniles vying for a spot in the $300,000-estimated final set for Friday, July 4.

Six 350-yard trials will be held on the card, beginning with Race 3 at 7:07 p.m. (CDT).

San Lorenzo Knockout, the 5-2 morning-line favorite in Race 4 (post time 7:33 p.m.), enters off a game maiden victory on May 31, when he clocked 15.769 for 300 yards to hold on in a tight finish.

Trained by Jeremy Derozin and ridden by Leonardo Rodriguez, the gelded son of champion sire Tempting Dash is owned by Rogelio Marquez, Jr., and was bred in Colorado by George L. Seward. The $46,000 Heritage Place Yearling Sale graduate was a runner-up in his trial for the Old South Futurity and finished eighth in the final.

Just outside him in post 9 is Summertime Dynasty, a 7-2 shot for trainer Alex P. Clark and owner Ebelyn Rojas. The FDD Dynasty colt, bred in Oklahoma by Michael C. Teel, won his trial for the Old South Futurity and edged Sweet Tempting Babe in a sharp 16.9984 clocking.

He was off slowly and lacked rally in the $194,000 Old South Futurity final, but his 87 speed index in trials makes him a major player under Yaidel Rodriguez. He was a $39,000 Heritage Place Yearling Sale purchase.

Davsam, the 7-2 second choice in Race 5 (7:59 p.m.), also exits the Old South Futurity, where he finished a closing third behind Shot Of Takillya and Coronados Imagine.

The colt by leading sire Apollitical Jess is trained by Viviane Hill and ridden by Juan F. Garcia, Jr. He is owned by Chance Kiehne and was bred in Oklahoma by Paul Tonderum. The $45,000 Heritage Place Yearling graduate posted a 87 speed index in his trial and a 85 in the final, showing a reliable late kick in both starts.

Race 6 (8:25 p.m.) features Swing Time, the fastest of the night’s top qualifiers on paper with a 94 speed index maiden win on May 23. The daughter of leading sire Favorite Cartel out of champion mare Flash And Roll by First Moonflash is trained by Jose R. Espinosa for owner Jorge Haddad.

Bred in Texas by Julianna Hawn Holt, the filly bounced back from a troubled debut to power clear by a length at 250 yards. She will be ridden by Oscar Andrade, Jr.

Kas Said Lbh will look to build on her strong debut in Race 7 (8:51 p.m.), where she is the 3-1 morning-line favorite. The Kas Tempting filly is out of Becauseisaidso Lbh, by Volcom, and was bred in Texas by her owners, Laurel Brothers Horses, LLC.

Trained by Patrick L. Clemons and ridden by Victor M. Urieta, Jr., she won her first out at Sam Houston by a widening margin and enters Friday’s trial with a 83 speed index.

Construction Zone, listed at 7-2 on the morning line in Race 8 (9:17 p.m.), will make his second career start for owner-breeder SLC Racing, LLC and trainer Shae L. Cox. The Texas-bred gelding by champion Carters Cartel out of First Dawn Dash by First Down Dash debuted with a solid second-place finish in his April 26 Lassie Futurity trial, finishing a length behind Mega Bucks Gl in a 330-yard dash.

He showed determination while fending off challengers to hold place. Construction Zone, a January foal, will be ridden again by Eleazar R. Hernandez, and a step forward could put him in contention for a spot in the final on July 4.

Also in Race 8, Fire Me Kev draws post 8 as the 9-2 second choice in the final featured trial. The Utah-bred filly by multiple steakes sire Kvn Corona is out of champion Separate Fire, by Walk Thru Fire, and is owned by Barraza Brothers and Sons Racing LLC.

Trained by David Bustamante and ridden by Leonardo Rodriguez, Fire Me Kev was a dominant debut winner at Louisiana Downs and followed that up with a fourth-place finish behind Davsam and Jc Corona Connection in a key April 26 Lassie Futurity trial.

The ten fastest qualifiers from Friday’s card will return for the Grade 2 Firecracker Futurity final on July 4, one of the summer’s most prestigious races for two-year-olds in the region. Complete trial results and qualifiers will be available on StallioneSearch.com following the final race of the evening.
