MEXICO CITY, MX–AUGUST 24, 2025–The Hipódromo de las Américas in Mexico City hosted its biggest Quarter Horse weekend of the season, beginning on Thursday with the Subasta Selecta Yearling Sale and culminating on Sunday night with a full card of stakes races.
The program featured eight stakes races for the Mexico Breeders Cup, the Subasta Selecta Futurity Consolation and closed with the much-anticipated Subasta Selecta Futurity-RG2.
Subasta Selecta Yearling Sale
The sale, Mexico’s premier Quarter Horse auction, remains a cornerstone of the industry and continues to offer some of the most promising racing prospects in the nation.
The top seller of the three-day event was KC Jess Junior, who brought approximately $45,700 on Saturday. The colt is by Krash Cartel and out of Jess Blazin Queen by Jesse James Jr. He was bred by Abelardo Gallegos at Rancho Los Potrillos.
Also drawing attention were two full sisters to KC Jess Junior. KC Jess Krash, sold as Hip 389, brought $32,000 while KC Lady Victoria, sold as Hip 390, brought $41,000. All three yearlings are full siblings to the undefeated superstar Rey De Manny.
Stakes-Filled Sunday and Historic Triple Crown Victory

On Sunday, the racetrack came alive with music performed by Los Cadetes de Linares between races, but the night belonged to the runners. After eight stakes races for the Mexico Breeders Cup, the evening closed with history being made as Mexico crowned its first-ever Quarter Horse Triple Crown winner.
Rey De Manny, already undefeated coming into the race, extended his record to six-for-six with a commanding victory in the $393,413 Subasta Selecta Futurity-RG2, the third and final leg of Mexico’s Triple Crown.
The colt surged to the front and drew clear to win the 350-yard race by daylight in 17.19 seconds with his regular rider Néstor Durán in the irons. Durán, who just last weekend was named Jockey of the Meet at Retama Park in Selma, Texas, guided the colt to yet another dominating performance.

The celebration in the winner’s circle was fitting for the occasion, with champagne, torches, and the presentation of a blanket of roses marking the historic achievement.
Owned by Cuadra San Martin and trained by Ashley Cirilo, Rey De Manny is by leading sire Krash Cartel. He has now banked more than $343,000 while sweeping the Mexico Futurity, the Garanones Futurity, and the Subasta Selecta Futurity.

He was bred in Mexico by Abelardo Gallegos Fernández and was purchased for $43,243 at the Subasta Selecta Sale. He is also a full brother to Kin Krash, who won the Mexico Futurity in 2024.
Cuadra San Martin dominated the Futurity with a one-two-three finish, as Buu closed strongly to secure second while Dk Misty Cartel finished third.
Buu was ridden by Paul Osvaldo and improved her record to two wins, two seconds, and one third from seven starts. The filly is by Krash Cartel and out of Shes Tough Enough P by Apollitical Jess.
She was bred by Abelardo Gallegos and is trained by Luis Cruz. Buu contested all three Triple Crown legs, finishing fifth in the Mexico Futurity and sixth in the Garanones Futurity.
Dk Misty Cartel, bred by Cuadra La Presita, earned her placing under Alejandro Gomez. The Danny Cartel filly is out of Mingl Tingle by First Moonflash and is also trained by Luis Cruz. She now has two wins, a second, and a third from four starts, including a runner-up effort in the Mexico Futurity.
