GUTHRIE, OK– NOVEMBER 19, 2025–The Barrel Futurities of America World Championships, originally scheduled to run November 15–22 at the Lazy E Arena in Guthrie, Oklahoma, was halted on November 18 after a positive case of EHV was confirmed. The remainder of the event was cancelled immediately.

CLAREMORE, OK—NOVEMBER 14, 2025—Cherokee Casino Will Rogers Downs wrapped its 2025 Quarter Horses season on Tuesday, closing out another successful chapter that saw an overall increase in wagers and attendance.
The Claremore track saw a total of 276 total races ran from September 8 through November 11. There were 231 Quarter Horse races, while 45 were made up of mixed (Paint and Appaloosa) horses. The season concluded with more than $4.5 million in wagers, up 8% from 2024 thanks to an increase in on-track handle, reflecting strong attendance.

SHAKOPEE, MN– NOVEMBER 12, 2025–Canterbury Park has submitted a request to the Minnesota Racing Commission for a 51-day Thoroughbred and Quarter Horse season that would run from Saturday, May 23, through Saturday, Sept. 19.
The 2026 racing calendar offers the same number of race days as 2025. Racing would be conducted primarily on Thursdays and Saturdays at 5 p.m. central and Sundays and holidays at 1 p.m. Additional race dates include Monday, May 25, Friday, July 3 and Wednesdays, July 22 and Sept. 16. A nine-day break is also proposed from July 13 to 21. Latest Update: Debris Removal Begins at Ruidoso Downs
RUIDOSO DOWNS, NM–OCTOBER 31, 2025–Heavy Equipment operators are removing more than 400,000 cubic yards of dirt and debris at Ruidoso Downs Race Track as cleanup from this summer’s flooding events began this week.
“We’ve seen plenty of digging already,” General Manager Rick Baugh said. “There are mounds of dirt and debris that are being removed from the riverbanks, racing surface, the barn area and throughout the complex.”
The racetrack received approval from FEMA yesterday for the cleanup work to begin. Crews are using bulldozers, long-arm excavators, loaders, and dirt haulers to continuously remove the debris.

On the agenda was the approval of racing dates for both Horseshoe Indianapolis and Harrah's Hoosier Park. OPELOUSAS, LA–OCTOBER 21, 2025–Quarter Horse trainer Jose Carrizales has come a long way in the past seven years.

LOS ALAMITOS RACE COURSE, CYPRESS, CA–OCTOBER 6, 2025–For the second straight year, the Los Alamitos Equine Sale posted record figures thanks to a tremendous catalog that included 16 yearlings that sold for at least $100,000 each led by a Burns Ranch-bred colt from the legendary cross of Favorite Cartel and Remember Me Rose, who Rosenthal Ranch purchased for a sale topping price of $730,000.
This year’s average yearling sale price of $48,121 represented a 7.7% increase from the previous record average yearling sale price of $44,876 set last year. A total of 142 yearlings were sold at the 2025 Los Alamitos Equine Sale for a gross figure of $6,833,200.

SUNLAND PARK, NM—OCTOBER 4, 2025—Gaming and Leisure Properties Inc. (GLPI), a Pennsylvania-based real estate investment trust, has announced it will purchase the real estate assets of Sunland Park Racetrack and Casino for $183.75 million.
The deal is scheduled to close on October 15, pending final approvals, and will mark GLPI’s second property in New Mexico. The company already owns Zia Park Casino Hotel and Racetrack in Hobbs.

ROCK SPRINGS, WY–OCTOBER 3, 2025–The 2025 Sweetwater Downs horse racing meet concluded on Sunday with increased attendance, handle, and horsemen participation.
Larger on-track crowds contributed to a 9.57 percent increase in wagering at the Rock Springs oval, while all-sources handle, which includes in-state and out-of-state wagering sites, rose 99.06 percent.
"In my 15 years as a partner in Wyoming Horse Racing LLC (WHR), this season at Sweetwater Downs has to be one of our best," remarked Sweetwater Downs President Eugene Joyce.
