Wesley Todd “Wes” Giles has been training American Quarter Horses on his own since 1981, when he sent out his first starter. Since then, he has saddled 5,191 starters that have won 817 races and have earned more than $12.5 million. Giles in 2007 sent out Wild Six to win the Grade 1 West Texas and Rainbow futurities, and repeated the West Texas score the following year with Fast Prize Zoom. Giles is the son of the late Ed Giles, the Utah-based trainer who in the 1980s and early ’90s often topped the national trainer standings by races won. |
