Major Stakes Schedule Announced for Hialeah Park

HIALEAH, FL—SEPTEMBER 4, 2010—FQHRA announced the major stakes schedule for the 2010/2011 Hialeah Park meet today.

The 400 yard $60,000-added Lassie and Laddie Futurities finals, open to all foals of 2008, will be run on December 18 & 19.

The 440 yard $60,000-added Hialeah Derby finals, open to all foals of 2007, will run December 26.

The 440 yard $60,000 South Florida Derby finals, open to all foals of 2008, will be run on January 21, 2011.

The 440 yard $60,000 Hialeah Invitational Championship, by invitation to horse's 3-years-old and Up, will be run January 23, 2011.

Nomination forms can be downloaded at by CLICK HERE.

The overnights stakes schedule will be out shortly and listed at www.fqhra.com.

Added money has been lowered to $60,000 due to the fewer number of racing days for this meet and in keeping with the agreement not to have more than 25% of the purse account money go to added money for stakes races.

Future meets should have the added money back to $100,000 for these races because of increasing number of racing days and increased purse levels starting with the 2011/2012 Hialeah Park meet.

This is the first year of a six year agreement with Hialeah Park. The agreement for this year is $100,000 per day for 24 days/ 8 weeks. The following two years will be 30 days/10 weeks and $120,000 per day. The following three years will be 40 days/10 weeks, $140,000 per day. Other tracks are coming on line and we think we should have at least 20 weeks of quality QH racing very soon.

The accredited Florida bred program will add bonus money to the owner, breeder and stallion owner of all accredited Florida-breds racing in Florida . One lucky owner/breeder received over $21,000 in accredited Florida-breds at the 2009/2010 Hialeah meet.
