GRAND PRAIRIE, TX—SEPTEMBER 3, 2010—Lone Star Park’s 2010 Fall Meeting of Champions for American Quarter Horses will be highlighted by the 18th running of the Grade 1, $1 million-estimated, Texas Classic Futurity, the richest horse race in Texas, on Saturday, Nov. 13.

In addition, history could be made at Lone Star Park on Saturday, Oct. 2 in the 14th Running of the Grade 1, $100,000 Refrigerator Handicap, which trainer Heath Taylor has indicated might be the next start for his 4-year-old Stolis Winner, winner of the 2008 All-American Futurity at Ruidoso Downs and the 2009 Texas Classic Derby at Lone Star Park.

Stolis Winner, who has won 12 of 19 starts and earned $2,097,731 is currently only $28,578 behind all-time leader Refrigerator, who earned $2,126,309 during his career, and could move to the top of the all-time money list with the $55,000 winner’s share in the race named for the current all-time leader and two-time world champion.

A total of 14 stakes worth an estimated $2.5 million including four Grade 1 races and a Grade 2 will be run during Lone Star Park’s Fall Meeting of Champions. The 26-day meet will be run from Friday, Sept. 17 through Saturday, Nov. 13 with racing every Thursday, Friday and Saturday night after the opening weekend.

In addition to the Texas Classic Futurity and the Refrigerator Handicap, the two other Grade 1 stakes during the meet will be – the $500,000-estimated Dash for Cash Futurity on Saturday, Oct. 9 and the $400,000-estimated Texas Classic Derby on Saturday, Nov. 13, the same night as the Texas Classic Futurity. The Grade 2, $200,000-estimated Dash for Cash Derby will also be run on Saturday, Oct. 9.

Lone Star Park’s premier Grade 1 races for two- and three-year-olds will be run on the same night, Saturday, Nov. 13. The Texas Classic Futurity – annually the state’s richest horse race – and $400,000-estimated Texas Classic Derby are scheduled for the closing night program. The fields for the finals will be determined by the 10 fastest times during trials that will be held on Friday, Oct. 22 for the Texas Classic Derby and on Saturday, Oct. 23 for the Texas Classic Futurity.

On Saturday, Oct. 9, Lone Star Park will host the $500,000-estimated Dash For Cash Futurity, the $200,000-estimated Dash For Cash Derby and $50,000-estimated Dash for Cash Juvenile Stakes. Trials for the Dash For Cash Derby are set for Friday, Sept. 24 while the Dash for Cash Futurity and Juvenile Stakes trials are scheduled for the next night, Saturday, Sept. 25.

In addition to the Quarter Horse races, there will be stakes events for Paints & Appaloosas as well as for Arabian horses. The fifth running of the $60,000-estimated Lone Star Park Paint & Appaloosa Futurity is scheduled for Friday, Nov. 5, with trials to be held on Thursday, Oct. 21 and the $15,000 Olympia Joe Lone Star Paint & Appaloosa Handicap is scheduled for Friday, Nov. 5

On Saturday, Nov. 6, Lone Star Park will host two divisions of the $15,000 Arabian Stallion Stakes – one for colts & geldings, the other for fillies & mares. Following is Lone Star Park’s 2010 Fall Meeting of Champions Stakes Schedule:

Lone Star Park’s 26-day, 2010 Fall Meeting of Champions for American Quarter Horses will be held from Sept. 17 to Nov. 13. After the opening weekend on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 17-18, racing will be held every Thursday through Saturday night with a first post time for all dates of 6:35 p.m.
