RUIDOSO, NM– MARCH 11, 2024–The Sam Thompson Memorial Foundation expands its fundraising activities by offering a clothing line of retro-Quarter Horse racing t-shirts from some of the legends of the sport of Quarter Horse racing.

Founded in 2014, the Sam Thompson Memorial Foundation has been graciously gifted the use of artwork from several top Quarter Horse racing artists in the history of the sport.

Ginny Harding,  a staple in the equine art world of Quarter Horse racing, is the first of a series of artists that are allowing for the use of their art by the foundation.  Many of Harding's art pieces have been featured on the covers of industry magazines, as well as a line of jockey cards, just to name a few.

Several other artist in the racing world have also graciously offered their artwork for use by the foundation for fund-raising purposes, as new selections of t-shirt offerings continue to grow.

The goal of selling the t-shirts is to create interest for the philanthropic foundation that has given away over $530,000 since 2016 in scholarships for students with ties to horse racing, as well as provided financial assistance to those in need throughout the racing community in the United States.

The Sam Thompson Memorial  Foundation, a 503c non-profit,  is named in recognition to the memory of the late jockey Sam Thompson.

In the 2023,  the Sam Thompson Memorial Foundation took over the process of continuing the Sam Thompson Memorial Jockey Award in the sport of Quarter Horse racing,  honoring a new jockey each year who has carried themselves honorably on-and-off the racetrack and served as a role model for their fellow riders.
