Los Alamitos Race Course has cancelled the racing program for Saturday, March 2 due to the incoming rain expected in Southern California.

LOS ALAMITOS, CA–FEBRUARY 29, 2024–Los Alamitos Race Course has cancelled the racing program for Saturday, March 2 due to the incoming rain expected in Southern California. Los Alamitos will resume its live nighttime program on Sunday night.

An outstanding Quarter Horse racing program is expected for Sunday night program. Trials to the Grade 1, $404,000 Los Alamitos Oaks, which were originally set to run on Saturday night, will be moved to Sunday night.

The card will also feature the trials to the Grade 2 El Primero Del Ano Derby. The top stars in action on Sunday include Grade 2 Robert Adair Kindergarten Futurity winner Double Down 123 in the Oaks trials and Grade 1 Ed Burke Million Futurity winner Political Rivalry in the El Primero trials. Entries for the Sunday night card will be taken on Thursday and will be available later in the day.

This Saturday morning, the Los Alamitos grandstand will open at a special time of 9:00 a.m. for the outstanding simulcast card from Gulfstream Park plus all other major available daytime Thoroughbred simulcasts.

Burgart’s Sports Bar will open at 10 a.m. Only the grandstand will be open on Saturday for nighttime simulcast. Night offerings will include harness racing from Meadowlands, Mohawk, Flamboro and Northfield Park, plus various racing signals from Australia. The Vessels Club will be closed both day and night this Saturday.

Gates will open as usual on Sunday at Los Alamitos for daytime simulcasting and for live night racing and evening simulcasting.

In addition, the  grandstand at Los Alamitos will be open as usual for the special Santa Anita card on Monday, March 4.
