CLAREMORE, OK—OCTOBER 27, 2018—Quarter Horse jockey Cody Smith rode his 1000th winner on Friday when Reads Rock It won her trial for the Black Gold 440 Championship Futurity at Will Rogers Downs.

The Oklahoma-based jockey rode four winners on Friday's Card, qualifying three head for the Black Gold and three head for the OHA Mystery Derby.

"I remember thinking 100 wins was a long ways away," Smith said in a Facebook post late Friday.

"I just want to thank everyone from my family, to owners, trainers and everyone that had a hand in reaching 1000 wins! I've had a lot of congrats today, and I just want you all to know I appreciate each and every one! I'm' more grateful than I can express!"

According to Equibase stats, Smith's mounts have earned more than $10.8 million. He has ridden such stakes horses as Hes Relentless, Fly On Lake, Painted Lies, Painted Sumer, Eagles Span, Eyesa First and Lone Star Stoli to name a few.
