TQHA Yearling Sale Opens Friday, Sponsored Barbeque Set Thursday Evening
The 2014 TQHA Yearling Sale will get under way at 10:30 a.m. Friday and Saturday. The public is invited to a BBQ on Thursday night.

TQHA Yearling Sale Opens Friday, Sponsored Barbeque Set Thursday Evening

SAN ANTONIO, TX—JULY 23, 2014—The 2014 TQHA Yearling Sale activities will get underway Thursday (Jul 24) with a free barbeque for potential buyers and consignors at 5 p.m. at the Exposition Hall at the Freeman Coliseum in San Antonio. The barbeque is sponsored by the Bank of America Racing Challenge and Cooper’s BBQ.

The 17th annual sale kicks off Friday (Jul 25) at 10:30 a.m. and will continue Saturday (Jul 26) at the Exposition Hall at the Freeman Coliseum. There are 263 horses cataloged over the two-day event. All yearlings that pass through the ring are eligible for the 2015 $100,000-added TQHA Sale Futurity (RG2).

The 2014 TQHA sale catalog is available online. It can also be downloaded for free via the equineline.com iPad app.

According to sale officials the host hotel Hyatt Place is completely booked, however, TQHA has made arrangements with the Crowne Plaza hotel in San Antonio to offer the $93 per night rate as well. This hotel is located just right down the road from the Hyatt Place and offers free shuttles to Quarry Market. To make a reservation, call the hotel at 210-805-0368.

Nearby Retama Park will be hosting live racing both Friday and Saturday, with first post at 6:45 p.m. Racing Ace Martha Claussen will be at the races on Saturday, offering a free tip sheet, paddock previews and answering questions on handicapping.
