OKLAHOMA CITY, OK–APRIL 19, 2014– The 26th running of the Remington Park Futurity and Derby will be contested tonight at Remington Park. Over the past 25 years, $16,426,864 in purse money has been distributed in the highly anticipated Oklahoma stakes.   • The highest lifetime money earner in the field of twenty five Remington Park Futurity winners is Llano Teller with earnings of $1,769,917. Number thirteen on the list of AQHA’s All Time Leading Money Earners, Llano Teller is followed in earnings by Remington Park Futurity alumni, Chicks Call Me ($628,400) and Mighty B Valiant ($543,968).

  • 1994 winner, Darlin Sixarun was named AQHA Champion Two-Year-Old Gelding in the same year he captured the Remington Park Futurity.

  • Stallions have won more Remington Park Futurities than any other sex with ten wins, followed by eight gelded winners and seven fillies.

  • Mr Jess Perry is the only stallion in Remington Park Futurity history to have sired three winners; 2005-Crater Lake, 2006-First Prize Robin and 2009-First Prize Leesa. Corona Cartel has sired two winners; 2008-Streakin Six Cartel and 2013-Coronado Cartel.

  • Dash For Cash leads the broodmare sires with four Remington Park Futurity winners.

  • More Remington Park Futurity winners were born in the month of March than any other month; 4-January, 3-February, 15-March, 2-April and 1-May. Dela Creme Smash was the youngest to ever win the Remington Park Futurity with a foaling date of May 1, 1987.

  • Prior to the Remington Futurity’s restricted state bred status in 2011, breeders from seven different states have won the race. Arizona, California, Florida, Louisiana, Ohio, Oklahoma and Texas have all been represented in the winner’s circle. Oklahoma had the most winner’s with twelve total.

  • Weetona Stanley has bred more horses to wear the title of Remington Park Futurity Champion than any other breeder; 2006-First Prize Robin, 2009-First Prize Leesa (full sisters), and in 2013-Coronado Cartel. Coronado Cartel is out of a full sister to First Prize Robin and First Prize Leesa and was bred in a partnership between Weetona Stanley and William Smith.

  • No other trainer has saddled more Remington Park Futurity winners than Jack Brooks with a total of four wins; 1990-Six Gun Sage, 2004-Eye Yin You, 2005-Crater Lake and 2006-First Prize Robin.

  • Jockey G.R. Carter has been aboard six winners to the Remington Park Futurity; 1997-Quick Moon Sign, 2001-Le Magnifique FG, 2007-Miss Blue Chew, 2009-First Prize Leesa, 2011-Mighty B Valiant and 2012-Lota Pyc. He is followed in wins by Jacky Martin, with four, and Larry Payne with three.

Number six on the list of AQHA’s All Time Leading Money Earners, World Champion Winalota Cash is followed in earnings by Remington Park Derby alumni; Champion, Dashin Is Easy ($775,123) and World Champion, Oak Tree Special ($628,470).

  • There were six Remington Park Derby winners named AQHA Champions and two AQHA World Champions; Rare Form (1992 3-Year-Old Champion & Champion 3-Year-Old Colt), Winalota Cash (1995 World Champion & Champion 2-Year-Old Gelding, 1996 Champion 3-Year-Old Gelding), Especially Rare (1997 Champion 3-Year-Old Colt), Dashin Is Easy (1998 Champion 3-Year-Old Colt & 1999 Champion Aged Stallion), A Real Man (2002 Champion 3-Year-Old & Champion 3-Year-Old Gelding), Oak Tree Special (2003 World Champion, Champion 3-Year-Old Colt & 3-Year-Old Champion).

  • Circle S Ranch is the only breeder to win the Remington Park Derby twice; 1997-Especially Rare (a colt by Rare Form), and 2009-Rarely Makes It Home (out of a daughter of Rare Form). Rare Form won the Remington Park Derby in 1992 and is the only stallion in history to have won the race and sire a winner in the Remington Park Derby.

  • No other trainer has saddled more Remington Park Derby winners than Eddie Willis with a total of three wins; 2002-A Real Man, 2003-Oak Tree Special, 2012-A Toss Up. Willis is followed by Jack Brooks with two wins. They are the only two trainers with multiple wins in the derby.

  • Jockey G.R. Carter has been aboard three winners to the Remington Park Derby; 1998-Dashin Is Easy, 2004-Wild Bill Mae and 2007-First Carolina. He is followed in wins by Larry Payne and Randy Wilson, each with two wins respectively.

First post time is 6 pm with a bevy of stakes races leading up to the grand finale of state bred action and the richest payout in the industry. Remington Park’s American Quarter Horse & Mixed-breed Season races each week Thursday thru Sunday. Thursday, Friday and Saturday first post 6pm. Sunday afternoon racing starts at 1:30pm.
