AMERICAN QUARTER HORSE ASSOCIATION—JULLY 8, 2021—Stakes-winning racehorse Drop Your Sox died July 5, 2021, reported owner Laura Pinelli via social media.

Flashy sorrel gelding Drop Your Sox was foaled in March 1996, a son of A Classic Dash and out of the Merridoc mare Merri Madam.

He was bred by Alvin Ely of Riverside, California, and purchased as a yearling by Legacy Ranch Inc. of Clements, California.

In his first start as a 2-year-old, D. Wayne Lukas claimed him, and in 1999, Laura took over ownership for the remainder of the horse’s life.

His stakes wins include the 1999 Don Guerro Handicap, 2001 Santa Maria Handicap and 2003 San Elijo Handicap.

In 2000, Drop Your Sox was honored as an AQHA Superior Race Horse and in 1999 was the California Hi-Point 3-Year-Old Gelding.
