Q-RACING JOURNAL—JULY 8, 2015—On the eve of Independence Day at Delta Downs, the fireworks cracked on the track as Volcoms Thunder provided a booming win in the $171,630 Firecracker Derby.
Trained by owner Raul Galvan of Roma, Texas, the Texas-bred gelding notched his fifth career win in 10 starts and his second career stakes. He has earned $179,343. His first stakes came by default in the April 25th Sam Houston Derby (G3), acquiring the win after Moonin The Eagle was disqualified for a medication overage.
Volcoms Thunder is a gelding by Volcom out of the Dean Miracle mare Ill Getcha Good, and was bred by P.K. Thomas of Weatherford, Texas.
