OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—JANUARY 22, 2016—Heritage Place's three-day Winter Mixed Sale ended today (Sat.) with a dip in average and median in reaction to this weeks downturn in world oil prices and major drop in the stock market.

"The average for the final day was 14% below last year’s final session but we still sold 87% of the horses," Heritage Place General Manager Spence Kidney said Saturday night.

The 2016 auction in Oklahoma City sold 704 head for $7,070,950 with a $10,044 average and $6,000 median.

"We had a strong finish to the sale today," Kidney said. "Eight of the top 20 selling horses were sold in the final session and four of those in the last 50 head of the sale—so the demand was strong all the way to the end."

"Heritage Place wishes everyone success with their purchases and we look forward to seeing the sale graduates at the races," he added.

Undaunted, a stakes-placed son of leading sire Corona Cartel, brought a final bid of $85,000 to tie Personal Glory (see related story) as the 2016 sale's high-seller.

Habaldo Solis/, Astorga Racing LLC and Yaneth Cabrera purchased the in-training 3-year-old from consignor Undaunted 13. Second in the Valley Junction Futurity and third in the Rainbow Juvenile Invitational, Undaunted earned $51,733 last season. He is out of the G1 Remington Park Futurity winner Jess Genuine, by Mr Jess Perry.

Saturday's second high-seller was Jess A Cartel, a Corona Cartel mare in foal to leading sire First Moonflash. Bobby Simmons paid $80,000 for the 10-year-old mare from the Double LL Farms, Agent consignment.

Riley Blanchet purchased the third high-seller on Saturday, Cartels Fortune, a daughter of Carters Cartel, for $72,000. Lazy E Ranch, Agent for Rodney Verret consigned the stakes winner of $123,750. She has a 2016 embryo due by Heza Fast Dash.

The aforementioned Bobby Simmons led all buyers with 22 head for a $332,800 total. Darling Farms purchased 12 horses for $192,200 and Juan Aleman had six purchases for a $140,000 gross.

Lazy E Ranch, Agent led all consignors and agents for the three day sale gross with 54 head for $720,900. Lazy E Ranch, Agent for Terry Bell Farms Dispersal was the second highest seller with 15 head totaling $378,900. Marty Powers, Agent had 32 head sell for a $305,000 total.

The 2015 Leading Sire of Money Earners, Pyc Paint Your Wagon led all sale sires of short yearlings (by average with two or more sold) with three head averaging $35,000. Mr Jess Perry had four short yearlings average $31,00 and First Down Dash had three for $25,167.

First Moonflash led all covering sale sires (by average with two or more sold) with two in-foal mares for a $57,500 average. Mr Jess Perry had two in-foal mares average $56,500 and Valiant Hero had two in-foal mares for $44,000.
