OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—JANUARY 22, 2016—Heritage Place's Winter Mixed Sale concluded the second day with declines in average and median. Personal Glory, a grade 1 placed daughter of Walk Thru Fire, brought the day's highest price of $85,000 on a final bid from Vince Genco.
The first two days have grossed $4,805,753 on horses sold. The 480 horses sold have averaged $10,012 and the median is $6,100. There were 55 repurchases through two days.
"The average through two days is off approximately 25% compared to 2015 and we have sold 90% of the horses offered in the first two days," Heritage Place Sales Manager Spence Kidney said Friday evening. "With the price of oil and beating in the stock market last week, the consensus among consignors and repeat buyers is that we are having a good sale. "
Kidney noted that the Top 10 horses through day two of this year grossed $584,000 compared to last year the 2015 Top 10 horses grossed $1,174,000.
"We have not had the amount of six- figure mares we had last year," he added. "We have a good set of horses tomorrow and look forward to another good day of selling horses."
Lazy E Ranch, Agent consigned the 8-year-old Walk Thru Fire mare Personal Glory. The multiple stakes placed mare finished third in the 2010 Ed Burke Million Futurity and earned $172,554. She sold in foal to leading sire Mr Jess Perry.
Tracy Dunn paid $58,000 for Like A Gift, a 3-year-old daughter of all-time leading sire First Down Dash. Marty Powers, Agent for Riverside Racing consigned the sorrel filly that was a finalist in the Grade 1 $1 million Rainbow Futurity at Ruidoso Downs last summer. An earner of $29,140 she sold in-training.
Also consigned by Marty Powers, Agent, multiple stakes winner Heza Fast Invictus was the third high-seller on Friday. Loreto Zarate paid $55,000 for the 5-year-old gelded son of Mighty Invictus. Heza Fast Invictus won the Mystery Futurity(RG2), Iowa Double Gold Futurity(RG3) and Iowa Double Gold Derby and earned $169,099.
Bobby Simmons is the sale's leading buyer through two days with 15 head totaling $180,900. Darling Farms has 11 purchases for $177,700 and Vince Genco has purchased two head for $122,500.
Lazy E Ranch, Agent is the sale's leading consignor after two days with 40 head grossing $571,600. Lazy E Ranch, Agent for Terry Bell Farms Dispersal had 15 head for $378,000 and Marty Powers, Agent has sold 25 head for $241,600.
Through two days Mr Jess Perry is the leading short-yearling sale sire (by average two or more sold) with three head averaging $30,000. 2015 Leading Sire Pyc Paint Your Wagon has two head at $28,500 and all-time leading sire First Down Dash sold two yearlings for a $24,750 average.
Mr Jess Perry is also the sale's leading covering sire (by average two or more sold) with two in-foal mares averaging $56,500. Valiant Hero had two in-foal mares at $44,000 and Apollitical Jess has two in-foal mares average $22,500.
