LOS ALAMITOS, CA—OCTOBER 22, 2016—Kimberly Isom, a 4-year-old from Anaheim, won the $700 top prize during Saturday’s annual Los Alamitos Halloween Carnival.

Isom was dressed as a Caterpillar in a Fruit Tray, an original costume made by her family. Isom kept popping in and out of the bright red apple and flashed a big smile from behind her lime green face paint.

The costume won the judges over and made one of the youngest overall winners in the event’s history.

Over 300 people participated in the costume contest, which featured seven different aged divisions.

Each divisional winner advanced to the grand final. Isom was the winner in the division for 3-4-year-olds. Other winners included Jael Torres from Long Beach in the 2 and under division; Cody Kellogg of Cypress in the 5-6 division; Haluka Nasu of Tustin in the 7-8 division; Julie Rocks of Anaheim in the 9-11 division; Cecilia Vega of Cypress in the 12-14 division; and Marcella Castro of Anaheim in the 15 and up division.

Proceeds benefited the Cypress Boys & Girls Club and the Los Alamitos RTCA.

The Los Alamitos Halloween Carnival also received the support from the local racetrack community in the form of sponsorships. Sponsors included trainers Elena Andrade, Angela Aquino, Mike Casselman, Jose Flores, Sherman Racing Stables and Chett Marketing, which operates a tack shop at the race track. These sponsorships benefited the Los Alamitos RTCA.
