Services Set Monday for IQHRA Member Mark W. Guy

COLFAX, IA—AUGUST 26, 2016—Funeral services have been set for 10:30 a.m. Monday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Colfax, Iowa for Mark W. Guy.

Mark, 67, of Mitchellville, passed away Wednesday at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. He loved raising horses and was a member of the Iowa Quarter Horse Racing Association, the American Quarter Horse Association and the Colfax Saddle Club.

Burial with military rites will follow at McKeever Cemetery. Visitation will take place from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday (Aug. 28) at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Colfax. The family will greet friends from 4 to 6 p.m.

The son of Melvin and Margaret (Gibson) Guy, Mark was born Aug. 29, 1948, at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines. He graduated from Colfax High School in 1966, and attended Ellsworth Community College.

Mark served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. On March 26, 1971, he married Marlys Joy Williams. He was a supervisor at Maytag. Following his retirement he worked at the Colfax Country Club and the Izaak Walton League, where he was also a member.

He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

Mark is survived his wife, Marlys; a daughter, Dr. Shannon (Laura Crosslin) Guy of Vermont; two grandchildren, Piper June and Eli Scott; a sister, Monica (Terry) Hysell of Urbandale; nieces, Libby (Chris) Carlton and their children Ellie, Caleb and Jax of Grimes and Samantha (Bill) Webb of Mitchellville.

Preceding Mark in death were his parents; a son, Scott; and a brother, George William.
