OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—FEBRUARY 15, 2016—440 Apparel company has announced that they will be offering two high school graduates of 2016 a scholarship named after 7-time All American Futurity winning jockey Jacky Martin.

The apparel company, based out of Amarillo, Texas, decided to post the scholarship in honor of the former Two-time AQHA Racing Champion jockey, as well as to help further the education of two graduating high school students with connections to the sport of Quarter Horse racing.

440 Apparel is co-owned by 2015 All American Futurity winning jockey Ivan Carnero, jockey’s agent Ryne Valerio, insurance agent and long-time racing enthusiast Ruben Cortes. Established in 2015, the apparel company specializes in marketing a clothing line that is Quarter Horse racing oriented.

Two high school graduates, one male and one female, of 2016 will become the first ever recipients of the scholarships named in honor of the legendary jockey. The amount of the scholarships to be awarded are for $1,440. The scholarships are to be paid upon registration of classes of any higher educational institution that the recipient has chosen to attend.

Candidates for the scholarships are required to have maintained a graduating GPA of at least 2.0. Candidates must also submit a 200-word essay describing their involvement in Quarter Horse racing, complete a scholarship form, as well as obtaining at least two letters of recommendation (one must be from a non-family member).

The deadline to submit the requirements for the 2016 awarding process of the scholarship is May 1, 2016. The application for can be downloaded by CLICKING HERE or from the 440apparel.com website.
