Positive Horses Reach 51 in EHV-1 Breakout in New Mexico

SUNLAND PARK, NM—FEBRUARY 8, 2016—As of Saturday, the New Mexico Livestock Board has reported that the number of EHV-1 cases at Sunland Park Racetrack and three nearby training centers has reached 51.

Three horses have been released from isolation based on negative swabs and blood on recheck. Three barns have been released from their individual exposure quarantines based on no new cases in the past 14 days.

The EHV-1 outbreak was announced on January 22. Since then, no horses have been permitted in or out of Sunland Park and its three nearby training centers.
