Jock Trevino Clark Jr. Gets First Win

AMERICAN QUARTER HORSE ASSOCIATION—JANUARY 28, 2015—Young jockey Trevino Clark Jr., 18, earned his first career win on December 11 at Evangeline Downs, when he guided Leon Grupo’s homebred Hardleon to win a $5,000 maiden claimer by a solid length.

It was the first win in an 11-race career for the brown gelding by Contend.

The race was Race 5 on the card, and just two races later, “NuNu” picked up his second victory. This was aboard Enjoy My Prize, who also won his race by a length. It was also the first win in eight starts for the Spit Curl Jess gelding, who is owned by Evelio Salazar and is a full brother to three-time stakes winner Jess Curl My Prize ($113,794).

Clark Jr. began riding in October 2014, and has made 48 starts, with two additional placings and mount earnings of $15,670.
