Grade 1 Refrigerator Handicap Draws Full Field

GRAND PRAIRIE, TX—SEPTEMBER 26, 2016—Ted G. Abrams’ Jessies First Down is one of 10 aged sprinters entered in Saturday’s 440-yard, $75,000 Refrigerator Handicap (G1) at Lone Star Park.

The 6-5 morning-line favorite, Jessies First Down is a homebred 5-year-old son of champion Fdd Dynasty trained by Judd Kearl. The gelding is coming off of a second-place finish, one length behind winner Zoomin Effortlessly, in the 440-yard, $200,000 All American Gold Cup at Ruidoso Downs on September 4.

Jessies First Down drew the rail post and will be ridden by Jose Alvarez.

Politicaly Correct, a 4-year-old Apollitical Jess gelding trained by Adrian Huitron for the Valeriano Racing Stables LLC, drew post 9 and will be ridden by Manuel Gutierrez. Politicaly Correct made his official season debut with a third-place finish in the All American Gold Cup.

Other contenders include Rockin Disco, a 6-year-old son of Rock Solid Jess trained by Tammy Johnson for owner Rockin J Running Horses. The gelding is coming off of a Remington Park spring campaign during which he ran second, a nose behind winner Im Beau Brown, in the 440-yard, $100,000 Bank of America Remington Challenge Championship (G2) on May 22.

Ivan Carnero has been named to ride Rockin Disco from post 6.
