RUIDOSO DOWNS, NM—SEPTEMBER 6, 2010—The 2010 Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale ended Sunday night with an increases in average and gross sales over last year's auction.

Preliminary unofficial results for the three-day sale saw 363 of the 491 yearlings offered marked as sold for a $12,722,300 gross as compared to $11,813,600 last year. The sale average of $35,048 was up 7% from $32,455 in 2009. The median stayed the same at $20,000.

The sale saw four yearlings bring upwards of $300,000, eight yearlings $200,000 and above and 31 yearlings at $100,000 or higher.

The high-seller sold as the first yearling in the auction on Friday evening, an unnamed Corona Cartel-Wild Six colt purchased by Rene Ruiz for $340,000. Consigned by Lee & Sherwood Racing/H. Mineer, the colt is the first foal from the 2007 Rainbow Futurity(G1) winner Wild Six ($601,632), by Tres Seis.

Fly First Down brought $300,000 in the first session from Raul Ramirez. The First Down Dash colt out of Babe On The Fly, by Strawfly Special, was consigned by Burns Ranch.

Another Corona Cartel colt topped the second night when All Corona, a half-brother to 2010 Rainbow Futurity(G1) winner American Runaway sold to Heath Taylor for $300,000. Lazy E Ranch, LLC Agent for Lance Robinson consigned the colt.

Sunday's high seller was also purchased by Ramirez for $300,000. The unnamed full-sister to champion Tempting Dash and grade 1 winner A Tempting Dash was consigned by Burns Ranch, Agent.

Ramirez led all buyers with six yearlings totaling $960,000. Mackie Racing, LLC purchased three head for $482,000 and Heath Taylor purchased three yearlings for $365,000.

Burns Ranch, Agent was the leading sale consignor with 11 yearlings for $894,500. Julianna Hawn Holt sold seven for $842,000 and Lazy E Ranch, LLC Agent for Lance Robertson sold five yearlings for $655,000. Lazy E Ranch, Agent with its numerous list of consignors was the leading overall combined consignor.

All-time leading sire First Down Dash led the sale by average with 25 head selling for $91,040. Corona Cartel sold 30 yearlings for a $90,267 average, followed by Holland Ease with two at $74,000 and Mr Jess Perry with 31 $64,613.

Valiant Hero led the first crop sires with 11 head averaging $32,591. Stallions had to have two or more yearlings sale to make the list.
