RUIDOSO DOWNS, NM—SEPTEMBER 4, 2010—The second session of the Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale continued to defy economic conditions as the sale climbed above last year's average and median.
By the final hammer on the second session the sale grossed $8,795,200 on 233 head, of the 312 offered, marked as sold. The two-day average of $37,748 is a 16% increase over the 3-day 2009 average of $32,455. The median average, which had been lower following the first session, also climbed 5% to $21,000 as compared to $20,000 in 2009.
The sale has seen three yearlings bring more than $300,000 and six head over $220,000.
Another Corona Cartel colt topped the second night when All Corona, a half-brother to 2010 Rainbow Futurity(G1) winner American Runaway sold to Heath Taylor for $300,000. Lazy E Ranch, LLC Agent for Lance Robinson consigned the colt.

Still the overall high-seller from the first two sessions is the unnamed Corona Cartel-Wild Six colt purchased by Rene Ruiz for $340,000 on Friday. Consigned by Lee & Sherwood Racing/H. Mineer, the colt is the first foal from the 2007 Rainbow Futurity(G1) winner Wild Six ($601,632), by Tres Seis.
Raul Ramirez is the sales leading buyer after two sessions with three yearlings totaling $395,000, followed by Heath Taylor with three at $365,000, Rene Ruiz with the sale topper at $340,000 and Mackie Racing, LLC who have purchased two yearlings for $322,000.
Lazy E Ranch, LLC Agent for Lance Robinson, is the leading consignor with five yearlings totaling $655,000. Burn Ranch, Agent has sold nine yearlings for $583,000, followed by Julianna Hawn Holt with five for $482,000 and 6666 Ranch, Agent for Weetona Stanley who had three bring $389,000. Lazy E Ranch, LLC Agent for numerous consignors they represent is also the sales' combined leading consignor.
Corona Cartel is leading the sale sires list through two sessions with 16 head averaging $100,053. He is followed by First Down Dash who has 20 head averaging $90,800, Holland Ease with two for $74,000 average and Mr Jess Perry with 22 for a $64,045 average.
