PYC Paint Your Wagon Gets First Stakes Winner

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—MARCH 27, 2010—Multiple grade 1 winner PYC Paint Your Wagon is now a grade 2 stakes sire in this first crop, after his two-year-old First Painted Sign won the $312,000 Oklahoma Futurity(G2) on Saturday night at Remington Park.

First Painted Sign pushed her record to 2-for-2 while picking up the winner's purse of $116,800. Another offspring of the stallion, Absolute Wagon, finished third in the futurity to earn $32,120.

The #1 first crop sire in the nation has sired five winners, 1 stakes-winner and 1 stakes-placed with earnings of $195,995. His 15 starters have average earnings per starter of $13,066.

PYC Paint Your Wagon won or placed 13 of 16 lifetime starts earning $889,581 with wins that included the Texas Classic Futurity(G1) and Derby(G1), Heritage Place Derby(G1), and Lazy E Futurity(RG2). He was also second in the Rainbow Futurity(G1) and The Championship at Sunland Park(G1).

Owned and bred by Michael Pohl, the son of leading sire Corona Cartel is out of Dashin Follies, by Strawfly Special who sold in the January Heritage Place Sale for a record $849,000. His second dam is the world champion Dashing Folly, by First Down Dash.
