OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—JANUARY 14, 2010—Dashin Follies set what is believed to be an all-time record for a high-selling American Quarter Horse broodmare at auction on Thursday when she sold for $875,000 at the Heritage Place Winter Mixed Sale.

Thursday was day one of the three day-sale that will continue tomorrow (Friday) and Saturday at the Oklahoma City venue.

"I am pleased to say the first day of the 2010 Winter Mixed Sale was a tremendous success," Jeff Tebow, Heritage Place General Manager said following Thursday's auction. "The crowd today represented a record number of people in attendance with a strong contingency of International buyers from Brazil, Canada, Mexico, Italy, and other foreign countries. The weather couldn’t have been better for this time of year. We are elated with the first day results and expect the sale to remain strong over the next two days," he added.

Tyler Graham, Agent, signed the $875,000 ticket for Dashin Follies, an 11-year-old Strawfly Special mare consigned by Oklahoma Stud, Agent for Michael A. Pohl. The dam of grade 1 winner PYC Paint Your Wagon ($889,581), grade 1 stakes-placed Ivory James ($220,026), grade 3 stakes-placed Eye Follies 9$101,315), grade 1 finalists Coronita Cartel ($31,724) and Separatist Follies ($36,544), sold with 2010 embryos by Corona Cartel and Jet Black Patriot .

The daughter of World Champion Dashing Folly has produced six ROM from six starters.

Graham also signed the ticket as agent for Coronita Cartel, the aforementioned Corona Cartel daughter of Dashin Follies, who was the second high-seller at $250,000. Also consigned by Oklahoma Stud, Agent for Michael A. Pohl, the Heritage Place Futurity(G1) finalist sold with a 2010 embryo by grade 1 winner One Famous Eagle.

Another six-figure sale on Thursday was Double Bar S Ranch, LLC, LLC's Daze Like who was purchased by Alan and Denise Taylor for $100,000. The Corona Cartel 4-year-old bred to First Down Dash is a half-sister to three-time champion Jess You And I ($1,324,536), stakes winner Dog Daze Afternoon ($49,877) and stakes –placed runners Wortherweightingold and Gold Medal Ribbon.

The average for the first day's preliminary results as compared to 2009, saw a 45% increase at $11,507. Repurchases for day one equaled 11% compared to last year of 17%. Gross sales for Thursday were totaled at $3,820,200. There were 370 horses cataloged, 37 withdrawn from the sale, and 1 horse with no bid.

"When taking the $875,000 sale out of the equation we still had a 12% increase over 2009," Tebow said.

Queen For Cash is believed to be the all-time high-selling Quarter horse mare at auction when she was purchased for $1,125,000 by J.E. Jumonville, Jr. at the Phillips Ranch Dispersal. He also purchased Justanoldlove for $875,000 in the sale, however both daughters of Dash For Cash were still in race training.
