Simmons Racing Acquires G1 Winner Gold Heart Eagle V, To Stand at Robicheaux Ranch In 2021

BREAUX BRIDGE, LA—OCTOBER 27, 2020—Simmons Racing announced today they have purchased Grade 1 winner Gold Heart Eagle V SI 104. The full-brother to 2020 leading first-crop sire One Fabulous Eagle has been retired and will begin his stallion career in 2021 at Robicheaux Ranch Inc. in Beaux Bridge, Louisiana. His fee has not been announced.

"I have been searching and waiting for a One Famous Eagle son for a few years. If you want to go 440, One Famous Eagle has produced it over and over. For the past few years it has been slim pickings on colts with any race records coming off the track." Robicheaux Ranch manager Ryan Robicheaux said today.

Racing for owner Valeriano Racing Stables LLC. Gold Heart Eagle V won or placed in four of seven career starts and has earned $530,883. He won the $1.1 million Grade 1 All American Derby and finished a close third to Cers Final Try and Hotsempting in the $710,414 Grade 1 Rainbow Derby. He is the #1 leading money earning 3-year-old colt in the nation.

Sammy Valeriano purchased the colt from Johnny Trotter in private transaction as a short yearling. Christine Hudson is the breeder.

"When Gold Heart Eagle V ran third in the Rainbow Derby, inches from winning the race, he appeared on my radar. After setting the fastest time to the 440 yard All American Derby with a four-length trial win, I was already texting Sammy (Valeriano) to get my foot in door in case the colt came back to win the finals. And as everyone knows, he bested his trial time to win the final with the fastest All American Derby time in nine years," Robicheaux added.

His sire One Famous Eagle SI 101 ($1,387,453) was the 2008 AQHA Racing Champion 3-Year-Old Colt. In nine crops to reach racing age he has sired 424 winners, 130 black type (19%), 7 champions, 2 world champions earners of more than $31.2 million with average earnings per starter in excess of $43,200.

One Famous Eagle's top performers include One Dashing Eagle SI 98 (World Champion, $2,079,065, All American Futurity-G1, etc.), Imperial Eagle SI 106 (champion 4 times, $1,852,897, All American Futurity-G1, etc.), Hotstepper SI 98 (champion twice, $1,348,066, All American Derby-G1, etc.), Bodacious Eagle SI 104 (World Champion, $1,293,444, Champion of Champions S.-G1, etc.), etc.

"To me, the icing on the cake is his Strawfly Special dam. His bottom side will work well crossed with Corona Cartel, Pyc Paint Your Wagon, Walk Thru Fire, First Down Dash and more."

Ladys Heart Of Gold is the dam of 10 ROM winners, 6 blacktype including stakes winner and Grade 1-placed One Fabulous Eagle SI 97 ($664,547, 2nd All American Fut-G1), Grade 1 winner Gold Heart Eagle V SI 104 (All American Derby-G1, see above), stakes winner and G2-placed Eagle On The Fly SI 102 ($217,619, 3rd Rainbow Fut-G1), Grade-1 finalist The Ultimate Eagle SI 97 ($129,795, finalist All American D-G1, Heritage Place Fut-G1), stakes winner and G1 finalist Dahteste SI 104 ($18,792, finalist AQHA Distaff Challenge Champ-G1), stakes-placed La Pescador SI 91, G3-placed Regarding Numbers SI 93, stakes-placed PC SI 85, etc.

The second dam is the Grade 2-placed Heza Fast Man mare Strength Of Heart SI 10 ($57,266), dam of 3 ROM winners including Los Alamitos Invitational Championship(G1) winner Strength In Number SI 102 ($266,993), dam of of Las Damas Handicap(G3) winner Love To Reason Br SI 106 ($99,271), Ruidoso Juvenile winner Mr Perry Strong SI 1010 ($84,356), Hipodromo Derby Challenge winner Lonely In Front BR SI 98 ($36,622), G3-placed Piloto Strong SI 85 ($103,415), and stakes placed Jagger Br SI 89 ($13,302), etc.

"The first person I called after I saw him was my Dad," Robicheaux says. "I told him 'once you see him you will breed some of your halter mares to him!' That’s how attractive this colt is, he is stunning to look at."

"Thank you to Sammy Valeriano for letting us get this deal done and a special thanks to Mr. John Simmons for trusting the team at Robicheaux Ranch to start Gold Heart Eagle V’s stallion career," he added.

Simmons Racing has been a longtime customer of Robicheaux Ranch and the past few years he has been heavily participating in the Louisiana program.

"The past few years I have been trying to establish a lineup of stallions that are not just for the Louisiana-Bred program, but to be contenders nationwide. Gold heart Eagle V is a great addition to the set of young stallions we have to offer," Robicheaux concluded.
