2015 Fee Set for All American Futurity Sire Volcom

TALLAHASSEE, FL—SEPTEMBER 9, 2014—Owner P.K. Thomas and AVS Equine Hospital have announced today that Grade 1 winner and All American Futurity(G1) sire, Volcom will stand for a fee of $2,500 in 2015.

The son of all-time leading sire First Down Dash won or placed in 18 of 23 races while competing in Grade 1 races for three consecutive years.

"This stallion has the performance record, family and the conformation to back up his great siring record," Dr. Steven Fisch of AVS Equine said. "He is big boned, good footed, exceptionally correct in conformation and has a very good mind. He is built to be fast and to last. His progeny have shown they have the same qualities."

From only four crops to race and 80 starters, Volcom has sire 50 winners (63%), 13 stakes horses (16%), 1 All American Futurity(G1) winner, 2 All American Futurity(G1) finalists, earners of $2.7 million with average earnings per starter of $33.927.

His top performers include All American Futurity(G1) winner JM Miracle SI 96 (4 wins at 2, 2014 $1,462,00), Grade 1 winner Lethal Volt SI 108 (5 wins, $266,277), Oklahoma Futurity(G1) runner-up Zack Of Hearts SI 97 (2 wins $77,650), Northlands Futurity(G3) runner-up Miss Kara SI 103 (2 wins, $62,247), Futurity Mexicano winner Volcoms Heart SI 103 ($60,602), etc.

At the just completed Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale he was the #2 Leading Sale Sire by Average at $84,000.

All of Volcom’s foals, no matter where they are born, are Accredited Florida-bred eligible. In many states such as Texas and Oklahoma his foals are eligible for dual accreditation. Florida-breds receive an additional 20% of the purse money amount won by running 1 thru 4 as breeders and owners awards.

"Volcom’s has excellent quality semen and a high pregnancy rate," Fisch said this week.

According to AVS Equine his cooled semen book is filling fast and they urge breeders to call and reserve a breeding before he is booked full.

Dr. Fisch and owner P.K. Thomas thanked the mare owners who have bred to Volcom in the past and look forward to them breeding again.
