Joose Boxx Remains Unmatched After Victory In The $502,385 Oklahoma Futurity [G2]

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK–March 23, 2024–Fastest qualifier from the trials Joose Boxx returns for the victory in the finals of the $502,385 Oklahoma Futurity [G2] at Remington Park on Saturday.

Joose Boxx, with Nestor Duran aboard started fourth out of the gates and inched away for the lead crossing the wire 3/4-lengths ahead of Xpress Lane. Duran said, "He is a pretty good horse and did it on his own. He broke good out of the gates and took it from there."

The son of two-time champion Kiss My Hocks clocked an 88 speed index against an 8 mph head wind in :15.542 seconds. The post-time favorite’s 300-yard victory paid $7.00 to win on 5/2 odds.

Undefeated in his first two starts, the $200,954 winner’s share of the purse increases Joose Boxx's lifetime earnings to $206,738. His owner Javier de los Santos Muquiz, said, "We have him paid up for the Heritage Place Futurity [G1]. So that is our next goal and we will go from there."

Joose Boxx’s trainer Juan Diaz Jr commented, "He ran a good trial but we expected more out of him. We thought the further he ran the better he ran."

Gerry Lynn Sigman and Diane Tatum of Texas bred Joose Boxx, who was repurchased for $100,000 in the 2023 TQHA Yearling sale. The gray gelding is out of Cd Daddys Home by Big Daddy Cartel.

Xpress Lane, ridden by Ruben Castro placed in a tight race for second. The son of Foose has one win and one second with $91,244 in the bank after cashing in the $85,406 check for runner up.

Breeder Steve Burns DVM sold Xpress Lane for $53,000 in the 2023 Heritage Place Yearling Sale to owners Tod and Gene Bradley and Ware Brown. The California-bred colt is out of Classic Sassy Chic by Classic Dash.

Finn McOol, guided by Roman Cruz, fought hard but placed third by a nose. With one second and one third, the son of Kvn Corona has $57,191 in earnings.

Bred in California by J Garvan Kelly and J Lloyd Yother, the brown gelding out of Fenian Faith by Apollitical Jess was a $37,000 Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale graduate last year.

Cowboy Blue Z, Miss Perrys Cowgirl, Billie Blues Girl and Ajk Viejo Titan round out the order of finish.

Evidenz, Ihearthetrainarollin and Liberty For Jess were all scratched by their trainers.
