Republic Anne Gets First Career Stakes Win In Arizona Downs QH Stakes

PRESCOTT VALLEY, AZ—SEPTEMBER 15, 2021—Graded stakes-placed Republic Anne got her first stakes win today when she defeated First Lady Perry by three-quarters in the $15,000 Arizona Downs QH Stakes at Arizona Downs.

Under jockey Emilio Tapia, Republic Anne completed the 440 yards in :21.678 seconds, a 93 speed index into a 11 mph headwind. It was the fourth career win for the daughter of leading sire Apollitical Jess.

Bred by champion breeder Bobby D. Cox, from the Grade 1-placed Carters Carte mare First Fancy Rach, Republic Anne has compiled a (15) 4-2-3 record and today's $8,850 winners' purse boosted her lifetime mark to $51,510.

Runner-up First Lady Perry is a multiple stakes winner of nearly $83,000. John Allred trains the daughter of leading sire Mr Jess Perry for owner Scott McDaniel. Bred in Utah by McColee Land & Livestock LLC, from the Heza Fast Man mare First Lady Amber, First Lady Perry picked up $3,000 for her effort today. Kevin Carbajal had the riding call.

Angel Valenzuela's Shez Our Jess finished half-a-length back to earn $1,500 for third. Jim Crotts trains the Heza Our Secret 3-year-old filly out of Jess Marcy by Mr Jess Perry. Pete Scarmardo is the breeder. Ridden by Michael Ybarra, Shez Our Jess has earned $21,182.

Valentin Jqm, Fastrak Required, Golden Boy Gonza, Gotta Bad Habit, Boss Hos and Arizona Chrome completed the field.
