Haras La Bien Plantada Hosts Successful Gran Remate Selección Sale In Argentina
Hip #4 Hero Eagle topped the second annual Gran Remate Selección Sale hosted by Marcelo and Sebastian Ibáñez of Haras La Bien Plantada in Argentina, selling for 142,800,000 Argentine Pesos (US$102,000) during Saturday’s yearling auction.

SANTA ROSA de CALAMUCHITA, CÓRDOBA, ARGENTINA—MAY 8, 2026—Marcelo and Sebastian Ibáñez of Haras La Bien Plantada, prominent breeders in the Argentine Quarter Horse industry, hosted the second annual Gran Remate Selección this past Saturday at their farm, drawing buyers from across the country to inspect and purchase select yearlings from the operation’s 2024 foal crop.

Conducted by Argentine auctioneer Daniel “Tato” Ribero, the sale featured 13 head eligible to compete in the 2027 Polla de Potrillos, which will offer an estimated purse of 35,000,000 Argentine Pesos (US$25,000), along with two newly added motorcycles awarded to futurity participants.

Leading the sale was Hip #4 Hero Eagle, who topped the auction at 142,800,000 Argentine Pesos (US$102,000). The colt is a son of champion sire One Famous Eagle and out of the Ivory James mare Dont Lett Go, a daughter of the champion mare Let Her Zoom.

The second-highest seller was Hip #8 Hanna Lake, a half-sister to the sale topper Hero Eagle. The filly commanded 72,000,000 Argentine Pesos (US$51,428) when the hammer dropped.

Hip #7 Hillary Senator sold for 63,600,000 Argentine Pesos (US$45,428) to rank as the sale’s third-highest seller.

Third-highest seller honors went to Hip #7 Hillary Senator, who brought 63,600,000 Argentine Pesos (US$45,428). The filly is by Louisiana Senator and out of the Coronado Cartel mare Check On My Coronado, a daughter of Checker A Firstdown, a finalist in the Grade 1 Rainbow Derby.

In addition to the yearlings, several breedings were also sold from the farm’s three in-house stallions:

• Jess A Sign SI-103 (Mr Jess Perry x Lett Her Sign by The Signature)
• Tempting Runner (Tempting Dash x St Pats Tea by Mr Jess Perry)
• Brotha Candy (Jess Good Candy x Valiant Sister by Valiant Hero)

Overall, the 13 yearlings grossed approximately 622,800,000 Argentine Pesos (US$444,857) for an average of 47,907,692 Argentine Pesos (US$34,219).

Additionally, 22 breedings sold for 1,400,000 Argentine Pesos (US$1,000) each to the farm’s resident stallions.

Haras La Bien Plantada has built much of its breeding program through imports of mares and stallions from the United States with the assistance of noted bloodstock agent Javier Alvarez, who was also in attendance at the sale.

“We are very pleased with the results from the sale,” said Marcelo Ibáñez of Haras La Bien Plantada. “Our buyers are happy with the genetics that we have been producing and are very excited to run in the Polla de Potrillos next year at Hipódromo La Punta in the province of San Luis, Argentina.”
