RUIDOSO DOWNS, NM–AUGUST 30, 2025–
Led by the sale of a yearling Favorite Cartel colt for $735,000, gross receipts during the August 29-30 Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale totaled $26,051,500 from 369 hips sold. The average sale price was $70,600 with a median of $41,000. Numbers were slightly down from last year’s record-breaking sale.

"The electricity in the air of last night’s sale was so refreshing," All-American Ruidoso Horse Sales Company General Manager Walt Wiggins said. "We are elated that volume on Sales was an all-time high, and the volume on repurchases was nearly $1.8 million below last year’s. We can’t thank our many loyal consignors and buyers for their tremendous support. "

AQHA Racing Champion Breeder Bobby D. Cox purchased Saturday’s sale-topper, Hip 318 Criminal Justice, from Burns Ranch, Agent for $735,000. The brown colt by leading sire Favorite Cartel is out of AQHA Dam of Distinction Remember Me Rose by Corona Cartel.

Criminal Justice is a full brother to five Grade 1 winners, including champion Cyber Attack, Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity(G1) winner Bomb Cyclone, Los Alamitos Winter Derby(G1) winner Powerful Favorite, Golden State Million Futurity(G1) winner Runforyourlife, and Ruidoso QH Futurity(G1) winner Cyber Monday.

In Saturday's session, Caliche Walls Interests LLC purchased the sale’s second high-seller, Hip 396 Treasured Empire, for $700,000. La Feliz Montana Ranch LLC, Agent consigned the colt by five-time world champion sire FDD Dynasty from the Apollitical Jess mare Treasured Dreams. The colt is a brother to two-time Grade 1 winner FDD Dreams.

The sale’s third-highest seller also came Saturday, when Linda Joiner signed a $650,000 ticket for Hip 402 Lightning Flash, the sale’s highest-selling filly. Juliana Hawn Holt consigned the Apollitical Jess filly out of champion Flash And Roll by First Moonflash. The second dam Stylish Jess Br, by Feature Mr Jess, is also a champion.

West Texas Racing Partners LLC was the sale’s leading buyer with eight purchases for $1,087,000. Norman Allen paid $935,000 for seven head, and Tabasco Racing LLC purchased 19 yearlings for $841,000.

MJ Farms was the sale’s leading consignor and/or agent with 17 head selling for gross receipts of $2,007,000. Burns Ranch, Agent sold 20 head for $1,958,000, and Robicheaux Ranch, Inc., Agent had 28 yearlings, totaling $1,504,000.

Eye Am The King was the sale’s leading sire by average, with two more sold, with seven yearlings averaging $140,714. Apollitical Jess sold 43 yearlings for an average of $128,791, and Flying Cowboy 123 sold 44 yearlings for a $91,773 average.

Golden Boi was the sales’ leading first-year sale-crop sire by average, with two more sold; he had four yearlings, with an average of $33,875.
