Dashin Hocks Scores First Stakes Victory in the $50,000 Turkey Time Stakes at Lone Star Park

GRANDE PRAIRIE, TX–NOVEMBER 25, 2023–Dashin Hocks visits the winner's circle for the second time at Lone Star Park, this time taking home the trophy in the $50,000 Turkey Time Stakes Saturday night. 

After a good start, Nestor Duran guided Dashin Hocks downs the 350-yard sloppy track in a formidable run crossing the wire a neck ahead Jessa Tempting You and barn mate Solaia. The post-time favorite clocked a 99 speed index in :17.500 seconds. The victory paid $5.20 on 4/1 odds. 

Dashin Hocks has lit the board in every out from seven starts with four career victories and the $28,500 winner's share of tonight's purse increased his lifetime earnings to $145,605. The son of Kiss My Hocks placed second in the Oklahoma Futurity [G2] at Remington Park earlier this season.

Bred in Texas, Dashin Hocks is out of Braggin N Dashin by Dashin Bye. His breeder Curtis Crenwelge sold him to current owner Carlos Ponce for $37,000 in last year's TQHA Yearling Sale. Ponce also owns third place finisher Solaia, who is also conditioned by Juan Diaz, Jr. 

Solaia and Jessa Tempting You crossed the wire in a photo finish, but is was Jessa Tempting You who prevailed for second under the guidance of Ali Rivera. The multiple winning filly trained by Gilberto Gonzalez has $46,393 in the bank.

Bob and Jerry Gaston bred Jessa Tempting You in Texas out of the Mr Jess Perry mare Jessa Leaving You. The two-year-old daughter of Tempting Dash is now owned by Guerras Racing Stables.

Solaia was piloted to her third place finish by jockey Jose Herbert. The daughter of EC Jet One has lit the board six of eight starts with three wins and $98,510 in earnings, including the Big Easy Stakes. Bred in Texas by TYKHE Racing LLC, she is out of Truly Favorite by Favorite Cartel.

Completing the order of finish is Jess Star Struck, Destinychild, Lefty, Vodka From Texas, Lota Eura and Mateos Wagon.
