OKLAHOMA CITY, OK–April 1, 2026—Saturday, April 4th at Remington Park brings a powerful double feature of Oklahoma-bred talent, as the card is split between trials for the RG1 Remington Park Oklahoma-Bred Derby and the RG3 Remington Park Oklahoma-Bred Oaks, followed by the RG2 $75,000 Mr Jet Moore Stakes to close out the weekend.
The first six races will feature fifty-four Oklahoma-bred sophomores sprinting 400 yards in pursuit of the ten fastest times to qualify for the estimated $182,500 RG1 Remington Park Oklahoma-Bred Derby final on April 18th. Later on, the card, races seven through eleven, will showcase forty-three fillies across five trial heats, all vying for a spot among the top ten qualifiers to return in the estimated $182,500 RG3 Remington Park Oklahoma-Bred Oaks.
Headlining the Derby trials is dual-registered champion Jc Speeding, installed as the 4-5 morning line favorite in the opening race. The gelding has already built a decorated résumé across both APHA and AQHA competition, earning World Champion honors in the Paint ranks while also emerging as a top contender for AQHA two-year-old champion colt or gelding. With five wins from eight starts and earnings of $263,497, he brings both class and proven speed into the trials.
Sired by Chilitos and out of High Speed Kitty by High Rate of Return, Jc Speeding was bred in Oklahoma by Richard Joneson and races for Planefun, LLC. Trainer Dee Keener will saddle the standout from post eight with regular rider James Flores aboard, setting the tone early for what could be one of the fastest qualifying performances of the night.
Another major player appears in the fifth trial, where Jamies Sin Tacha enters as the 8-5 morning line favorite. The gelding, winner of last year’s Remington Park Oklahoma-Bred Futurity, comes into the trials off a sharp bullet workout on March 19, clocking 13.69 from the 250-yard gate. With career earnings of $366,341, he has already proven his value well beyond his $15,000 purchase price.
By Dulce Sin Tacha and out of Specials Jamie by Ivory James, Jamies Sin Tacha was bred in Oklahoma by Monty McNair and races for Miguel A. Vargas. Trainer James J. Gonzales II will send him out from the rail with Christian Cardenas in the irons as he looks to return to another major final.
Across all six Derby trials, the depth of the sophomore division will be on full display, with every fraction of a second carrying weight as competitors chase a spot in the April 18th final.
The Oaks trials present an equally compelling storyline, as forty-three of the top Oklahoma-bred fillies line up in five heats, creating one of the most competitive divisions of the meet. Among them is Amarillis, who headlines the seventh race as a 2-1 morning line favorite. The filly capped her two-year-old season with a victory in the Grade 3 Black Gold Fillies Futurity and has earned $233,500 through four career wins.
Sired by Favorite Cartel and out of Astranomical by Dominyun, Amarillis was bred in Oklahoma by M. C. Stucks and races for Dusty Rose Ranch, LLC. Trainer Stacey Capps will saddle the filly from post three with Cody Smith returning to ride, looking for a rebound performance following a troubled trip in her most recent start.
The Oaks division appears especially deep, featuring multiple stakes performers and proven earners, setting the stage for a highly competitive battle for qualifying times. With both divisions chasing the clock, the trials promise not only winners but potential future stars emerging ahead of championship night.
As the evening builds toward its finale, attention will shift to the RG2 $75,000 Mr Jet Moore Stakes, capping a weekend that highlights the strength and depth of Oklahoma-bred racing (see related story). With Derby and Oaks berths on the line and a major stakes event to close the card, Saturday night at Remington Park stands as one of the most important showcases of the meet, all leading toward a high-stakes April 18th championship Oklahoma-Bred program.
The races at Remington Park can be watched on Q-Racing Video.
