Grade 2 Louisiana Downs Futurity Trials Draw 126 Juveniles

BOSSIER CITY, LA–MARCH 4, 2024–A total of 126 2-year-olds are entered in this week's 300-yard Louisiana Downs Futurity (G2) trials.

A total of 14 trials -- seven on Thursday and seven on Friday -- will be contested. The five fastest qualifiers from each day of trials will meet in the March 30, $250,000-est. Louisiana Downs Futurity final.

Thursday's heats are led by Tempting Debut GL, a homebred son of champion Tempting Dash trained by Jose Sanchez for owner Garza Laurel Partnership LLC. Tempting Debut GL won a 220-yard training race on February 9, as the sorrel colt defeated D Apollitical Star by one length in :12.296.

Tempting Debut GL drew post 9 and will be ridden by Luis Vivanco in Thursday's first trial.

Rancho La Cobra's All American Stone77, a son of Favorite Cartel and a $72,000 purchase at last year's Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale, drew post 5 and will be ridden by Modesto Pina for trainer Wendy Garcia in Thursday's first heat. All American Stone77 is out of Fast Prize Corona, a winning daughter of Corona Cartel, and the colt is a half brother to Grade 1 winner CR Tuckernuck and Grade 2 winner Spit Like Jagger.

Friday's trials are headed by schooling-race winners Celebratingtheeagle and Powerful Moment. A sorrel daughter of This Is An Eagle and a $29,000 buy at last year's Texas QHA Yearling Sale, Celebratingtheeagle is trained by Janessa Muniz for owner Jesus A. Molina. The filly posted the fastest winning time from the February 9 training races, as she defeated Kas This Stoli GL by a head in :12.090.

Celebratingtheeagle drew post 3 and will be ridden by Arnulfo Gutierrez in Friday's fifth heat.

Powerful Moment races for TG Horse Racing LLC from the barn of trainer Guillermo Martinez. A $28,000 purchase at last year's Heritage Place Yearling Sale, the Capo de Capi colt scored a decisive 2 1/4-length victory in his schooling race, covering the 220-yard trip in :12.296.

Powerful Moment drew post 7 and will be ridden by Eddi Martinez in Friday's third trial.
