SUNLAND PARK, NM–FEBRUARY 14, 2026– Alamos made his 2026 debut a winning one Saturday afternoon at Sunland Park, prevailing in a tight finish to capture the $80,000 Pepsi Cola Stakes (G2) for New Mexico-breds at 350 yards.
Ridden by Christian Ramos, Alamos broke sharply from the outside post and engaged in a duel before edging clear by a neck. The sorrel gelding stopped the clock in :16.966 seconds, earning a 103 speed index over a fast track. Conditions were cloudy with a 10 mph tailwind.
Trained by Tony Sedillo for Tungsten Racing Partnership, Alamos is sired by leading sire Eye Am King, whose runners have produced more than $13.1 million in earnings from 157 winners. He is out of the Woodbridge mare Anakena, a stakes finalist. Bred by MJ Farms, Alamos was a $185,000 Ruidoso New Mexico Bred Sale graduate, the second-highest seller of the sale.
The victory improved his record to 16-7-0-0 and pushed his lifetime earnings to $168,401 after collecting the $48,000 winner’s share. An established stakes performer, the 4-year-old wrapped up his 2025 campaign with a victory in the Lovington Stakes (G2) at Zia Park and has been a finalist in the Zia Futurity (G1), New Mexico Classic Derby (G2), New Mexico State Fair Derby (G2), Mountain Top New Mexico Bred Derby (G3), and New Mexico Breeders Stakes (G3).

Chavez and Heysol Howlet and trainer Jose DeHerrera. The Jesse James Jr gelding is out of the Stel Corona mare Wish You Had One To, a multiple graded stakes-placed runner. Jesses Wish entered off a third-place finish in the Red Or Green Stakes (G2) in January and now owns a record of 27-5-7-3 with earnings of $369,921. His record includes victories in the 2022 New Mexican Spring Futurity (G2) and the 2024 Pepsi Cola Handicap (G2).
Pavel finished third under Luis Martinez for owner Francisco Hernandez and trainer David Gomez-Barraza. Bred by MRB Racing LLC, the gelding is by Czar Cartel MV and out of the Tempting Dash mare Camelia. Pavel now holds a record of 17-7-3-3 with earnings of $405,290. His stakes record includes wins in the New Mexican Spring Futurity (G2) and New Mexico Breeders Futurity (G3).
The Calling, Flashtoglory, Da Edge Of Gray, Big Daddy Farr, Big Crush BB, and Bad King completed the order of finish. Jm Famousberry and Pick Your Pour were scratched.
Alamos returned $4.80 to win, $3.20 to place, and $2.80 to show. The $1 exacta paid $11.20, the $1 trifecta returned $116.30, and the 10-cent superfecta paid $58.41.
