OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—MAY 31, 2025—House Of Lords surged to a decisive victory in the $244,000 Grade 2 Heritage Place Derby on Saturday, clocking 400 yards in a swift 19.344 seconds over a fast track.
The 3-year-old chestnut gelding by leading third-crop sire Flying Cowboy 123, out of This Candys Okay by Okey Dokey Dale, was sharp from the gate and maintained a strong drive under champion jockey Francisco Calderon to win by 1¼ lengths.
Trained by Victor Rodriguez-Flores for Valeriano Racing Stables LLC, House Of Lords banked $102,480 for the win. He was a $65,000 purchase at the 2023 Ruidoso Yearling Sale but was repurchased by Valeriano after his 2-yearold season.
With three win in seven starts last season, the gelding qualified for the Grade 1 Heritage Place Futurity but finished a troubled tenth in the million-dollar final.
This season he has a perfect 2-for-2 record and has earned $161,412. Buck Way Ranch LLC is the breeder.
Second-place finisher Kiss My Maruska, a Grade 2 winning colt by leading sire Kiss My Hocks out of Ms Highmaitenance by Favorite Cartel. He earned $41,480 for owner Heavy Hitters Racing Stables.
Bred in Texas by Tyler and Naia Graham and trained Bobby Pena, the Kiss My Maruska was ridden by Nestor Duran. A $88,000 purchase at the 2023 TQHA Yearling Sale, he won the Dash For Cash Futurity(G2) was second in the Louisia Downs Futurity(G2), TQHA Sale Futurity(RG1) and third in the Evangeline Downs Futurity. He has banked $606,226 with five wins in 12 starts.
Coming off two consecutive wins, Nine One Won ran the best race of this career to complete the trifecta, finishing half behind for third. The sorrel gelding by champion sire Tempting Dash out of Not My Choice by Jody O Toole collected $29,280 for owner Jimenas Ranch.
Bred by Cindi M. Keeton, he is trained by Raul Ramirez and was ridden by Mario Delgado. The graded stakes-placed gelding has qualified for the Oklahoma Derby(G3) and Dash For Cash Juvenile. He has banked $108,758.
The remaining order of finish was Curls Magic Wagon, Church Spire, Apolitical Time, Relentless Pursuit, Toastin Heros, Heaven's Uncle, and Hez My Hero.

The stakes event honors the outstanding mare Junos Request, a winner of over $362,000 on the track and a finalist in 10 graded stakes races, including the Grade 1 All American Derby and Grade 1 Texas Classic Derby. A daughter of Junoimgood out of Easy Request, Junos Request became a cornerstone of Quarter Horse racing in the early 1990s and has since established a legacy both on the track and in the breeding shed.
