Wera C and jockey Jonathan Dominguez rally late to win the $47,984 Speedhorse Derby on July 18 at Fair Meadows.

TULSA, OK–JULY 18, 2026–Fastest qualifier Wera C lived up to her billing with a strong late rally to capture the $47,984 Speedhorse Derby on July 18 at Fair Meadows.

Ridden by Jonathan Dominguez, the filly races for CH Horse Racing LLC and is trained by Marco Chavez-Gutierrez. Bred by Ellis H. Hank Bird, the $73,000 TQHA Yearling Sale graduate is by champion Flying Cowboy 123 and out of the One Dashing Eagle mare Pillow Talk.

Her female family traces to champion Dos Poruno ($68,275). Wera C covered 350 yards in :17.528, earning a 101 speed index. The $18,234 winner's share of the purse increased her bankroll to $198,351 while improving her record to five wins, five seconds, and one third from 11 starts.

She entered the final off a runner-up effort in the Grade 2 Heritage Place Oaks. At two, she won the Oklahoma Juvenile Stakes and finished third in the Grade 1 TQHA Sale Futurity.

Mr Booombastic finished second under Cody Smith for owner Bertha Nunez and trainer Jose Angel Burciaga. Bred by Mr. and Mrs. Judd Morse, the $22,000 Heritage Place Yearling Sale graduate is by champion Dulce Sin Tacha and out of the stakes-winning Apollo TB mare Dancing Iam.

He is a half-brother to stakes winner Indeed ($122,417), while his female family traces to champion Check N Fetch ($328,116). Mr Booombastic completed the 350 yards in :17.634, earning a 97 speed index.

He now owns a record of four wins, one second, and two thirds from 11 starts with earnings of $78,642. Last season he captured the Mari Hulman George Stakes and finished third in the Horseshoe Indianapolis Juvenile Challenge Stakes.

She The Ceo rallied for third under Cristian Esqueda for owner RJ Racing LLC and trainer Julio Rascon-Almanza. Bred by Jose Espinosa, the $15,000 Heritage Place Winter Mixed Sale graduate is by Hawkeye and out of the Favorite Cartel mare Nsm Favorite Zoomer.

She is a half-sister to stakes winner B Second Cowboy ($163,847). She stopped the clock in :17.682, earning a 96 speed index.

She The Ceo now sports a record of four wins, one second, and two thirds from 10 starts with earnings of $90,349. Earlier in her career she was a finalist in the Grade 2 Louisiana Downs Futurity and the Gillespie County Fair Firecracker Futurity.

I Am A Candy Tree, Kvn Design, Fasterthanmybrothers, Beltane, Bernina Express, Sams Train, and Xpressiv completed the order of finish.
