Under jockey Minor Arana, Er Mountain Ex (#5) won the $74,800 WABRA Wyoming Bred QH Maturity at Sweetwater Downs Saturday afternoon.

ROCK SPRINGS, WY—SEPTEMBER 27, 2025—In a thrilling finish that had the Sweetwater Downs crowd on edge, Er Mountain X surged late to capture the $74,800 WABRA Wyoming Bred Quarter Horse Maturity at 400 yards on Saturday afternoon.

With a clean break and determined drive under jockey Minor Arana, the 4-year-old black colt prevailed by a head at the wire in a final time of 19.712 seconds, earning a 99 speed index. Conditions were ideal with clear skies, fast track, and no wind.

Bred in Wyoming by Ross Brown and Elsha McGarry, the colt is by multiple stakes sire Jr Dynasty Mountain and out of the mare Ud Midnight Peach, by Perrywithrhythm.

He is owned by his breeders and trained by Ross Brown. The victory was worth $29,920, pushing his career bankroll to $44,692. Sent off at 11-1 odds, Er Mountain X returned $24.20 to win, $12.60 to place, and $6.20 to show.

Runner-up honors went to Jkh Almost A Dynasty, a brown filly also sired by Jr Dynasty Mountain and out of Almost Early, by Favorite Cartel. Bred in Wyoming by Gordon Knudsen, she races for UDM Investments LLC under the care of trainer Calli Dominguez.

Ridden by Gerardo Vera, the multiple stakes winner was just a head short of the winner, picking up $14,960 for her strong late effort. She has banked $126,876 in 22 career starts.

Finishing third was Ivorybudsnblossoms, a 4-year-old brown gelding bychampion sire Ivory James and out of One Famous Blossom, by One Famous Eagle. Bred by Brooke Black, the gelding is owned by Eugene T. Joyce and trained by Josh Taylor, with Julian Zavala aboard.

He was beaten just a nose, suitable for a $7,480 payday. Also a stakes winner Ivorybudsnblossoms has earned $117,095 in 17 starts.

In the remainder of the field, Yo Morning Delite finished fourth, followed by Cayenneoverthemoon in fifth, Moon Em N Dash sixth, Western Dynasty seventh, Jess Pure Sass eighth, and Mound Valley Glock ninth.
