OKLAHOMA CITY, OK–JANUARY 16, 2026–The hammer dropped at $250,000 for Ariatt (Hip #383), the sale topper on day two of the Heritage Place Winter Mixed Sale in Oklahoma City on Friday, January 16. Consigned by Mike Logan, Agent, he was purchased by Jesus Colin.

Ariatt is a four-year-old gelding in training who placed second in last year’s All American Derby-G1 and was a finalist in the All American Futurity-G1 as a two-year-old. The son of champion sire Tempting Dash earned $378,327 on the track.

Backed by a female family of champions, Ariatt is out of multiple black-type producer and stakes winner Lethal Lil ($465,864), a daughter of leading sire Corona Cartel. His dam is a half-sister to AQHA Dam of Distinction and champion producer Volcoms Delight, the dam of champions Relentless Eagle ($346,853) and Volcoms Favorite ($263,452). Lethal Lil is also a half-sister to the dam of champion Lethal Cowboy 123 ($1,363,533).

“Day two of the Heritage Place Winter Mixed Sale was strong, with an average sale price of $23,013 for the session,” said General Manager Spence Kidney.

Day 2 produced solid trade, with short yearlings, well-bred broodmares, and horses of racing age in demand. After two sessions, Heritage Place Sale Company reports that 475 of 555 head offered sold for gross receipts of $10,163,450. That produced an average of $21,397 across the two days and a median of $12,000.

Spence also noted, “Eighty-eight percent of the horses sold on Friday, and nine head were in the six-figure category.”

The second-highest seller, Hip #619, Apollitical Chick V, was purchased by Shane and Brooke Snow from Dunn Ranch, Agent, for $180,000. The six-year-old mare is a daughter of leading living sire Apollitical Jess out of Me Chickie by Major Rime.

Apollitical Chick V has two 2026 yearlings by In Hott Pursuit and Kiss My Hocks, and she has five foals due in 2026—one by Kiss My Hocks, two by Dulce Sin Tacha, and two by In Hott Pursuit.

She is a half-sister to Grade 2 winner Wagon Chick V ($257,950) and out of Grade 2 winner Me Chickie ($233,574), who is a full sister to Grade 3 winner Rime Has A Chick ($276,544) and a half-sister to multiple Grade 2 winner Sixy Chamisa ($350,094).

The third-highest seller of the day, Hip #531 Tempting Dreamgirl, was sold for $165,000 by Mike and Leslie Turner to The Marla K. Robinson Family Trust. Her first two foals, born in 2024, are due to hit the track this year, and she sold with a 2026 embryo by Flying Cowboy 123.

The seven-year-old daughter of Tempting Dash is out of champion producer Allamericandreamgirl. Tempting Dreamgirl won the Four Corners Futurity and earned $61,358.

Tempting Dreamgirl is a half-sister to two-time champion American Runaway ($686,355). Her second dam is multiple champion and AQHA Dam of Distinction Dashing Phoebe ($609,533).

Rancho La Cobra remains the leading buyer through the second session with seven purchased for $664,000, followed by La Feliz Montana Ranch, LLC, which also bought seven for $290,000, and Carmen Villalobos not far behind with five purchases at $280,000.

Dunn Ranch, Agent, is the leading consigner after the close of day two as the only consignor with over seven figures, selling 68 for $1,315,900. Marty Powers, Agent, was the second-leading consigner, selling 26 for $800,000, and Lazy E Ranch, LLC, Agent, followed with 44 sold for $713,000.

Apollitical Jess is the leading “short yearling” sale sire through two days (by average, two or more sold), with four head averaging $53,750. Hes Relentless and Flying Cowboy 123 follow, both with two sold, averaging $39,000 and $35,750, respectively.

Flying Cowboy 123 is the leading covering sire through two sessions (by average, two or more sold), with two in-foal mares selling for an average of $115,000. Dulce Sin Tacha sold six in-foal mares for an average of $51,000, and FDD Dynasty sold four for an average of $44,750.

“Another large crowd was on hand today, and we look forward to a great catalog to close out the third and final session for this year’s sale on Saturday,” Spence concluded.

The sale concludes Saturday, January 17, opening at 10 a.m. with stallion services benefiting The Madeline Schaar Veterinary Memorial Scholarship, including Eye On The CardEC Jet OneJust A Kool BoyStreakin La JollaMr Piloto, and Hes Innocent. Session Three follows immediately, offering Hips 709 through 1,062.
