MALAD CITY, ID—AUGUST 12, 2018—Rob That Wagon posted another dominating performance on Sunday to pick up his sixth consecutive win and third stakes victory in the $34,400 Oneida County Futurity at the Oneida County Fair in Malad City, Idaho.
Under jockey Nikeela Black, Rob That Wagon defeated Dashing Candy Girl by one-length while completing the 300 yards in :15.223 seconds, a 99 speed index with a 5 mph tailwind.
Conditioned by trainer Mark Hanson, the son of Pyc Paint Your Wagon earned $15,480 to push his bankroll to over $77,200. Owner's Robin Dunn and RTM Stables LLC purchased the 2-year-old in the 2017 Heritage Place Yearling Sale for $30,000.
The brown gelding also won the $92,602 Bitterroot Futurity in June and the $48,960 John Deere Sandy Downs Juvenile in July. He is eligible to participate in the Grade 2 $125,000-est. John Deere Juvenile Challenge Championship November 7th during the Bank of America Challenge Championship Night at Los Alamitos Race Course.
Rob That Wagon was bred in Texas by Bob and Jerry Gaston from the First Down Dash mare First Tea Rose. He has compiled a (8) 6-1-0 record with his only off-the-board performance coming in the Rocky Mountain Spring Classic Futurity in May.
Runner-up Dashing Candy Girl races for owners Denny and Sandy Weigt and is conditioned by trainer Monty Arrossa. Eric Ayala rode the Oklahoma-bred daughter of multiple stakes sire Dashair from the Oak Tree Special mare Found A Candy Tree. Bred by the Estate of Carl Pevehouse, Dashing Candy Girl earned $6,880 to bring her earnings to $10,030.
Fastest qualifier Dk First Frost put in a solid effort under jockey Raymundo Torres to pick up $3,440 for third. Jarrett Mills trains the daughter of leading first-crop sire Coronado Cartel for owner/breeder Don Knopp. The chestnut filly also qualified for the Rocky Mountain Spring Classic Futurity and earned $6,525.
One Way Woman, Mistyduino, Look Secret, Dust a Tac and Sweetheart Sammie completed the field.
