Undefeated Bringonthewave Wins Again in Alberta Bred Futurity

EDMONTON, AB— SEPTEMBER 16, 2017 —Bringonthewave ($3.40) paid the people as the heavy favorite and fastest qualifier to the $36,901(US) Alberta Bred Futurity at Northlands Park on Saturday.

In a commanding 2-¼ length victory, Bringonthewave and Ramiro Sanchez Castillo posted a time of 17.283 and a speed index of 84 for the 330-yard race. He is trained by James Doolin for owner Dale Zukowski.

Bringonthewave is a 2-year-old Alberta-bred gelding bred by Shady Lane Stables, by Wave Carver, out of the Corona Cartel mare Special Corona.

In the first of two trials for the Alberta Bred Futurity, Bringonthewave defeated Mr Eleanor by half a length to be the fastest qualifier. He debuted with a win in his Jerry Stojan Futurity trial at Grande Prairie in July and returned to win the final later that month. With four wins in four starts, Bringonthewave has now earned $29,120.

Competing for second place money was Shawnee Cartel and Llomars Dream, separated by a neck for second and third place, respectively.

Jose Rocha had the mount on Shawnee Cartel for trainer Buckey Stockwell and Owner Doug Graham. Shawnee Cartel is by Teller Cartel, out of the Royal Quick Dash mare Shawnee Royale, and was bred in Alberta by Buckey and Beverly Stockwell.

Shawnee Cartel has seven lifetime starts to date, and the Alberta Bred Futurity was his third stakes appearance. He has only missed the board once and has earned over $19,000.

Llomars Dream and Martin Ortiz completed the trifecta. Buckey Stockwell also bred and trains Llomars Dream, but owns this filly, by Azzom and out of Dazzled, by First Down Dash.

Completing the field were Marissas Marshmellow, Machete, Atomic Blondie, Mr Eleanor and Thisbudsforyou.
