MILES CITY, MT—MAY 14, 2017—Miles City hosted trials on Sunday for the BHS Quarter Horse Futurity and Dan Lockie Quarter Horse Derby.

BHS Quarter Horse Futurity Trials

Eyesa Special Cirrus set a new track record in his first career start on Sunday when he posted a :15.154 clocking for 300 yards in the last of four trials for the $7,500-added BHS Quarter Horse Futurity at Miles City.

Ridden by jockey Luis Peralta, the son of Eyesa Special Slim, completed the course in :15.154 seconds to earn a 114-speed index into a 5-mph crosswind.

The previous track record of :15.461 was established May 15, 2011 by Taytaycook.

Owned by Steve Day, Eyesa Special Slim was the fastest of five finalists saddled by trainer Jesse Villegas. Broken Bones Cattle Company bred the gelding in Wyoming from the First N Six mare Lil Shameless.

Dan Lockie Quarter Horse Derby Trials

In the Dan Lockie Quarter Horse Derby trials Super Coup Counter broke his maiden with a two-length victory in the last of four trials to set the fastest time.

Ridden by jockey Juan Ramirez, the gelded son of Profit Increase covered the 350 yards in :18.092 seconds, a 92-speed index. Owned-and-bred by Linford Ranch Horses, Super Coup Counter is out of the Sir Antonio mare Madam Coup.

The brown gelding was the fastest of three qualifiers for trainer David W. Greene.
