Wdc Woody B Fast Prevails In New Mexico Breeders' Futurity

FARMINGTON, NM—MAY 14, 2017—It was speed all the way for Wdc Woody B Fast Sunday afternoon as the 2-year-old gelding easily defeated Osbaldo Blue Diamond by three-quarter in the $110,214 New Mexico Breeders' Futurity(RG3) at SunRay Park. Fastest qualifier Bug Daddy Cartel was a neck back to finish third.

Ridden by jockey Martin Felix, Wdc Woody B Fast completed the 350 yards in :17.476 seconds with a 12-mph tailwind to earn a 90-speed index. The Woodbridge gelding is now 2-for-2 and picked up $51,800 to boost his earnings total to $53,600.

Trainer Blake Rust conditions the bay gelding for himself and Barton Ranch Stables LLC. Denton Crozier bred Wdc Woody B Fast from the Vital Sign mare Signs Of Speeding.

Still a maiden from four starts, Osbaldo Blue Diamond finished second with courage under jockey Jorge Bourdieu. Omar Gutierrez saddled the daughter of first crop sire Osbaldo out of Lady Chimes by Chimes Band (TB). The New Mexico homebred racing for owner/breeder Hubaldo Solis earned $19,838 for the effort. She has lit the board in three starts.

Coming off the fastest qualifying time in the April 28th trials, Bug Daddy Cartel was a game third for owner Jesus Estrada. Also, trained by Omar Gutierrez, the son of second crop sire Big Daddy Cartel earned $12,124. Jaime Leos was aboard the colt out of Pucci Bug by Blushing Bug. Edilberto Estrada is the breeder.

Frangellica, Soxx Ar, A Diamond Mercedes, Jans Cartel, Big Daddy Kp, Flash Of Victory and Redd Metal completed the field.
