Tsing Tao Steps Up In Fresno Stakes

FRESNO, CA—OCTOBER 16, 2016—Tsing Tao got up in the final strides, under jockey Juan Arrriaga, to defeat No Mas Vaquero by half-a-length in the $15,500 City Of FIrebaug Stakes Sunday afternoon at Fresno County Fair.

The 4-year-old son of Stel Corona completed the 350 yards in :18.057 seconds, a 91-speed index into a 20 mph headwind. The $8,300 winner's purse boosted his career mark to $44,878.

Racing his entire career at Los Alamitos Race Course, the 4-year-old finished third for a $16,000 tag in July. He then won a starter allowance for owner/trainer Valentin Zamudio before racing at Fresno. Steve Burns, DVM bred Tsing Tao from the Leaving Memories mare Turner On.

Winner of the Jack Robinson Handicap at Pleasanton in July, No Mas Vaquero earned $3,050 for second. The Volcom gelding races for owner Juan Moya and is conditioned by Ricardo Guillen. Jay and Char Parsons bred No Mas Vaquero from the Chicks Beduino mare Quiero Mas.

Dominicklala, a royally bred son of all-time leading sire First Down Dash from the Splash Bac mare Ms Pilot Point, finished a length back in third for owner /trainer. Adolfo Ortiz. Luis Godoy rode the Grant Farms, LLC Louisiana-bred. He earned $1,850.

Stel Heights, Snowy Coronitas, You Do The Math, A Real Carteltrigger , Eddies Jazzin, Zendaya and Mrs Pickens completed the field.
