HAZEL PARK, MI—JULY 30, 2016—Gordon Mobley Futurity runner-up Kid Cartel raced to his first stakes victory Saturday night by defeating Seperate Feature by one-length in the $20,000 Hazel Park Open Futurity. Saras First Card finished a neck back in the show position.

Ridden by jockey Fernando Fonseca-Soto, Kid Cartel completed the 300 yards in :15.693 seconds with a 9 mph tailwind. The $12,000 winner's purse boosted the Kool Quick Kid gelding's earnings total to $53,030 with a (3) 2-1-0 record.

Anthony Cunningham trains the Indiana homebred for owner/breeder Craig Zenenerg. He is out of the Strawflyin Buds mare Cartels Glass Sliper.

Missouri-bred Seperate Feature races for owner/breeder Patrick Easter and trainer Tim Eggleston. Natasha Fritz rode the Inseperable filly out of Moon Kissed Perry, by Feature Mr Jess. She earned $4,000 for the effort.

Victor Olivo saddled Saras First Card to her third place finish for owner Sarah Torres. EG High Deserts Farms' bred the Red Hot Rhythm filly in Colorado from the First Down Dash mare Elite Speedette. Ridden by Santiago Mendez, the bay filly picked up $2,200.

Promise Of A Man, First Down Money Pop, Steal The Rainbow, Dreamers Hot Topic, Gogo Jangles, Heza Stone Runner and Zoomen Encounter completed the field.
