Tml Streakin Joy Steps Up in Mile High Derby Trials

AUROA, CO—JULY 29, 2016—California invader Tml Streakin Joy got her first win in Colorado on Friday when she defeated Cf Humbuckin while setting the top qualifying time for the Mile High Derby at Arapahoe Park.

The 10 fastest qualifiers, from the five trial races contested, will return to Arapahoe Park on Saturday, August 13th to vie for the winner's share of a $118,200 purse going 400 yards.

Tml Streakin Joy completed her 400-yard task in :19.596 seconds to earn a 97-speed index while posting the top qualifying mark. Jockey Daniel Valles rode the daughter of multiple stakes sire Tac It Like a Man for owner Rivera Quarter Horse Racing, Inc.

Alejandro Chavez conditions the Ron Hartley California-bred out of Streakin For Joy, by Chicks Beduino. She has compiled an (11) 4-1-2 record and earned $20,846.

The aforementioned Cf Humbuckin held on to the second fastest mark of :19.617 for owner Robert Mashburn and trainer Jonathan Chavira. Eugenio Navarrete rode the Oklahoma-bred son of Givinitaroyaleffort. Carver Farms, LLC bred the sorrel colt from the Shazoom mare Ohares Secret.

Coming off back-to-back derby wins, Air Force Won extended his win streak to four with a neck victory over Silver Citizen in the final trial. Alejandro Chavez conditions the son of Ketel Won for owner Vences Quarter Horses. Ridden by Ramiro Garcia, Air Force Won stopped the clock at :19.625 to record the third fastest time. Hughes Donaldson Horse Company bred the multiple stakes winner of $73,244 form the Major Rime mare Forced To Win.

Ed Burke Million Futurity(G1) finalist Bookish posted the fourth fastest time of :19.664 seconds after winning the second trial under jockey Ramiro Garcia. Jose Moreno saddled the Walk Thru Fire California-bred for owner David Sanchez. Edward Allred bred Bookish, an $85,862 earner, from the Corona Cartel mare Callan Rocks.

Tac It Like a Man and Walk Thru Fire were the only sires with multiple qualifiers, each siring two. Swingit Lika Man, by Tac It Like a Man, won the third trial to qualify with the fifth fastest time of :19.678 and Thru The Night, by Walk Thru Fire, got the ninth time of :19.703 after finishing second to Bookish.
